I remember is playing Turrriff several years ago in the Challenge Cup, but can’t remember us drawing a Highland League team since I have been watching the Hibs. Cove Rangers are a fantastic little club. Became friends with a former player of theirs who had played at a decent level when I was in Aberdeen, they not only sign some decent players but help them through their badges but also get them full time employment in the city so if the coaching doesn't work out, they have a future after football.

Really have a lot of time for them and I'm sure they're going to give us a very good game.

We need to put out the strongest team we can today, Cove are a decent side with several players who could play in a higher league than the one they are in. Take them lightly and we will pay the price.

I know the SPFL were bleating on about scheduling issues a wee while back but so much of it is self inflicted.

Hibs are being put in a difficult position with players out for international recognition and still having to play these daft group stages - just need to ensure we qualify for Europe and dont have this issue next year !!

Agree not great. Sounds like we have picked up a few unwanted injuries which suppose can happen anytime. Hope none of the players on international duty get injured though of course Doig will be out of next league game also. Kind of shows how small a squad we have.

Whilst I don’t think they should have went with the group format this year, I think there is benefit to us in getting games for players who wouldn’t get them otherwise. It’s just a bit unfortunate for us that all the players missing happen to be defenders, along with Gogic who might well have provided some cover in that position.

Clubs all voted to keep the tourney so this is the result. With the Scottish Cup to complete as well theres about one more spare weekend.
