Robson-Kanu is out and Kieffer Moore went off with an injury after 40 minutes this evening. Surely Doidge should get a chance now?

What about his previous 10 months of good performances?

Fortunately they don't make their decisions based on one-off cameo performances.

Think he was trying hard not to get injured.

Hope not. Squad looking thin as it is.

*Probably deserves it though to be fair.

Would have been called up by now if he was good enough. He's not though.

Oh well, we'll just have to watch him continue to be an excellent player for Hibs. What a disaster.

Olivier Giroud got his first France goal aged 26. He is now the second top scorer ever for France and on course to beat Henry and take 1st. Do you genuinely think if a player isn't in thier national team by 26/27/28 they aren't good enough and thats it?

Doidge is a quality player. Its pretty poor how you have jumped at the first chance to stick the boot into him.

I'm struggling to see where HC says that, He is allowed his POV. You hate a contrary opinion though eh?

That's where I am. Being completely selfish my heart sinks when our players get called up

He said exactly that a couple of posts back...Which is cool seeing as it’s a discussion board.

He just said in his opinion he wasn't good enough without putting an age qualification into it (apart from by now I suppose), seems fair enough to me. I like Doidge but, what's the point in comparing him to a CF from the current WC champions. When it comes down to it I couldnae really give a flying one though. 😊

You need to look more closely.:greengrin

Everyone is entitled to their POV, just as everyone is entitled to respectfully question that POV.

FWIW, I think Doidge deserves a call-up based on his goals, performances and the dearth of talent available to Wales in the role he plays. It's hard to argue with their recent results, but they do seem to have a fascination with picking young, inexperienced forwards who don't score goals.

:greengrin Suppose its just showing age isnt necessarily a barrier (not going into the skill level)....I couldnt give a **** about Wales but I'd love him to get the recognition as it obviously means a lot to him..Certainly from what Ive seen of them he's worth a shot in the squad.

I don’t want anyone called up now. Only increases the chance of Covid and them missing Hibs or worse infecting Hibs. Josh won’t the the last of our players hit by this.

I don't see how the "by now" could mean anything else except referencing his age?

The response you're pulling up was perfectly reasonable imo.

"By now" is where he says it, or at least that's how I interpreted it.

Stay on topic please. He gave his opinion, I replied with mine. Nothing more, nothing less. I do not hate contrary opinions, this board would be pretty boring without them.

I never want Hibs players called up. international football is rotten, outdated and only interrupts real football.

the only benefit from it I can see is players will associate playing well for Hibs as a platform to get international recognition.

otherwise, no thanks.

Depends who else is an option up front for Wales. I realise Bale is a world class player but I'm not sure the rest of the team are anywhere near that level.

Though TBF, they did actually manage six times as many shots at goal last night in their game against England than Scotland did against Israel.

It certainly ain’t outdated look at the viewing figures for the World Cup or the Euros. Going byyour argument it would be easier to say Scottish football is out dated we should just have the top 20 teams in the world playing in a league as everything else is pointless and outdated.

That’s where I’m at here too.

Find it mad, that at a time when people are being advised not to travel that footballers all across Europe are criss crossing the continent.

I think it may get to the point that we see higher profile players pull of of squads at direction of their clubs

I think the general disinterest with the national team is based on the lengthy time we have not been to either the Euros or WC. If that changed, then IMHO, we would all show more interest and not be Hibs centric.

no that's not the conclusion you could draw from my argument at all. I made no reference to what we "should" do at club level and if I had it certainly would have reflected nothing like the conclusion you seem to have plucked from the air.

It's out dated because we club together a group of (often *****) players based on nothing else except where they or their granny were born. this isn't limited to Scotland.

our club teams are full of multi nationalities. yet international week comes round and we're expected to cheer for someone like Ryan jack cos he's Scottish despite the fact we roundly despise him for every other week?

the tournaments get viewing figures because they're played when no other football is on and you can watch 2 or 3 games a day for 4 weeks. during the season it just interrupts proper football, that includes any club football at any level.

I don’t believe the last paragraph. Put the champions league or europa in the summer and it figures wouldn’t touch that of the World Cup. With the exception of Hibs games it’s the only competition I really look forward to and I would love to see Scotland there one day.

Wales is an odd team (as you get in international football), total huddies and top top players.

Not a likely starter but I don't think Doidge would be out of place in their squad.

Total huddies!! Bit harsh that. Almost all playing premier league or in the championship etc. A lot of the younger players are at massive clubs out on loan. Lot of young players in this squad.

With regard to Doidge they are waiting to see how bad Moore's injury is. Looks like he could still be ok and Giggs doesnt seen too intrested in Christian unfortunatley.

Was pleased to see Scotland win yesterday. Hope you join us in the summer!

Pretty sure they had two players from League 1 playing for them yesterday.
