Has anyone used Cazoo to buy a used car from? Thinking of using them. There prices look very decent compared to to some big garages. Just not sure about not being able to test drive or get a good look at the motor first. Their website is slick enough, as are reviews.

Any thoughts, appreciated.

A friend of mines bought a year old car from them, was delivered as described. He traded in his heap of a car, the Cazoo rep gave it a once over and OK'd the agreed trade-in.
My mate thought the trade-in was generous as the heap had a lot of necessary repairs coming up and is still very happy with the new motor (3 months down there line).

I think you're entitled to up to 7 days and/or 100 miles to change your mind when you buy like this.

Any problems, or if you just don't like the car, you hand it back.

Not used them but to be honest I’d be tempted over having to go through the traditional route of a dealership. Always been a most unpleasant experience dealing with used car salesmen!

With their [edit] 7 day no quibble return you can also easily arrange for an inexpensive after purchase independent check of the motor and send it back if you are not happy.

So to me it’s no less of a gamble than buying from Arnold Clark or the like and considering some of the stories of after sales ‘service’ from them and other dealers then maybe even less so.

I've not used them but the 7 day return thing is as good as a test drive I guess, although it probably catches a few people if they find something minor that would have stopped them buying a car but they don't want the hassle of returning.

I had a look at them recently and they seem reasonable. I'm looking for a second hand car but probably looking for something a little older (read "cheaper") than they have on offer.

Used them and was impressed with service. The thought of traipsing round car dealerships doesn’t really appeal to me so using Cazoo was appealing. As previous poster said, the trade in they offered was pretty generous.

They seem sensibly priced and well presented online usually showing any minor damage present.

question is where is the car from, more than likely ex lease cars or even rentals.

You could even test drive a car at a dealer and buy it through Cazoo.

I just read that you have 250 miles, not 100.

I've bought 2 cars online, both new right enough, but I've been more than happy with the security and levels of protection.

Two things I noticed: I used to think that annual or so services were essential warranty wise, but not all three year old cars had had a service.

Secondly: we buy any car offered me £830 as a sale, the dealer offered me £975 trade in. That car has not been on the road since.

The car I bought was on the forecourt at £13900. I actually paid £11850 at the end of the day.

To me the garage has thrown away any small cash left in the trade in. Don't understand !

Did you go ahead with this? I’m looking at a used Merc GLC through Cazoo. The price is very, very good and they seem to be a very attractive option for buying.

Would be interested to hear how you got on if you went with it.

Also, what’s the script with paying cash? Are you likely to get much off the price?

I bought my car from cazoo online and got no discount when paying cash if I remember correctly, maybe different if you get to go to one of their showrooms but it was cheaper than other places already

There's never a discount for cash anymore. They want you to take credit because that's what they're really selling.

Paying cash saves you the interest which can be very significant over the term.

There are quite a few videos on you tube saying never to tell the salesman you are paying cash, American examples but guess the principle is the same here. As said the dealers make their money on the finance deals, the advice is to play along and agree prices for the new car and the trade in as if you were going for a finance deal then insist on the same deal but with cash.

I’d be nervous about the car I’m buying being ex rental etc. to use a site like that tbh. I used to work for Enterprise and I would not consider an ex rental at all.

Taken the plunge and finally I'm buying one off cazoo next few days.

I'm px my current car, value was excellent. I've been completely honest to Cazoo in my appraisal with my current car, however it is due a service and I'm just a tad concerned about the cazoo guy. 'finding something wrong with it'

Do they give my px car a very thorough examination - or is it more a once over?

Never used Cazoo but I'm sure they'll try and charge you as much as they can for their car and give you as little as possible for your car. If you have an Amex Platinum card you get £250 statement credit if you spend £1,000 with Cazoo by end of September.

It’s only going to get bigger I think. Cinch is owned by British car auctions so they are going to have the pick of the cars that head that way from rental and lease companies also they have an avenue to dispose of the lower end trade ins via auction. They seem to be manipulating the prices by offering big trade in prices just now.

The motor industry is going through big changes right now.

There is a global shortage of semiconductors so there are very few new cars in stock, hence the increase in the used car market.

A major chip producer in Japan burnt down and the one in Taiwan, which provides around 75% of the world's semiconductors, diversified during Covid because demand was so low and they haven't got their production levels back up.

I love my car, but I'm seriously considering selling at these prices.

Think it’s luck of the draw with them. The 14 day money back guarantee makes them worth considering as well as they are pretty competitively priced compared to the dealers.

Getting issues sorted may be a bit of a hassle and they won’t be well prepped I would imagine also most will be ex lease or hire but many are nowadays.
