Hullo darlings,

Well, here it is. Man’s Christmas Day.

I’ve got an intensive driving course starting today so I’ll be out the game from 9 until 1pm but I’ll be back afterwards for a caper.

Forget potential signings, let’s discuss our own transfer policy when it comes to some serious snackage. What are you packing today?

Cupboards are bare for me so I’ll need to make a rushed trip to my local convenience store to get some meal deals over the line.

Onto the posting activity, what can we expect? Will MWHibbies argue that today isn’t TDD? Will The 90+2 become The The 90+2 by tomorrow morning? Will any of our ITK specialists get ahead of the game and announce players before Hibs do? Will my TDD sidekick nonshinyfinish provide another sterling show? Can we rely on One Day Soon to once again rise to the top and supplement this thread with some cracking snack based input?

And will Natalie Sawyer make a comeback?

Let’s do this...

Now where’s that yellow tie!

'Bounty' meaning treasure, or have you literally bought a load of the coconut-based chocolate bar?

I love a Bounty, especially the dark chocolate version, but it's more polarising than Neil Lennon.

I was meant to start today with a few lectures, but they have been moved to later this week, giving me plenty of time to prioritise TDD instead.

Fortunately, I have an Asda order arriving at 11.30, which will provide some much needed shelf fillers.

Plenty of chocolate in the cupboards at the moment, so reckon I'll struggle to wait until the afternoon to tan a packet of Mikado.

Dashed to the Co-op to pick up a meal deal. Breakfast triple never fails, along S&V McCoys, a bottle of Dr Pepper and a chicken and pesto pasta chaser. Already done in a bacon roll from the snack van at East Mains in Broxburn. For afternoon snack we've got great granny's coffee cake to see us over the finish line. I might pick up a wee McDonalds for the long drive to the Borders this evening.

Is Co-op your meal deal preference, or just a convenience thing for where you stay?

Tesco wins out for me. Still raging that Co-op took wraps and baguettes off their deal.

Last time I worked Stockbridge market I popped into Waitrose to use their facilities on the way home. Looked at their lunch selections and one thing they had was boiled quail eggs with truffle mayonnaise. Who can say no to such a pretentious lunchtime snack?

Stornoway black pudding and haggis double on a crispy roll. Never know whether to put brown sauce on though. Diluted the taste of the blackpudding.

I had to pick up a parcel from another shop nearby, so Co-op was a pure convenience option. I'd preferably have a toasty: roast ham and Red Leicester with caramelised onion chutney and a tin of Heinz tomato soup, but time was against me this morning.

Co-ops pastas are quite good, and the satay skewers they do take some beating.

If you play it right you can get about £7 worth of lunch for £3. Every time I pop in to Tesco for my lunch they have to release profit warnings to their shareholders.

If you’re in Co-op then you should bypass the meal deal and head straight for the Stephen’s bakery. Steak and haggis pie, stick it on a roll. Perfect.

Late to the party today.

Defrosted the freezer yesterday so took out some jumbo sausages from the Morrisons butcher i had forgot about. Cant remember the exact ingredients but sure they are with a chilli kick. Will be having them on a wrap with some Sweet Baby Ray's BBQ sauce.
a tub of fruit salad and blackjacks for a snack and heatwave Doritos with a cheese and chive dip.

And to add to the meal deal cat - Morrisons generally I find the better all rounder, however Tesco do a honey mustard chicken pasta which is up there.

What’s it saying? McGennis is pap, Ron the con and twin towers was an inside job?

The Jambos would have sacrificed themselves to save the world from the deadly foe that is Covid 19 but we said no.

Unbelievable Jeff.

Sorry to be late to the party lads, let's just say that in the last 48 hours the fridge freezer packed up (triggering massive brain-destroying internet search for available appropriate replacement - who knew the same twats hoarding toilet paper, pasta and flour were also hoarding fridges FFS), the steam iron literally exploded (not too bad - means Mrs ODS won't be fwarqing ironing in the TV room while I'm trying to watch TDD news), a close friend's son in Pollock Halls tested positive for Covid (don't feel sorry for him, they're all bammers behaving so recklessly they might as well be out there licking supermarket trolley handles - though it did necessitate a food parcel delivery because the parents are in London)

To the matter at hand, TDD. Pretty much the only day of the last six months that won't seem to bleed into all the of the others with mind numbing repetitive similarity. It's been like endless weeks of watching the dullest of dull Alex Miller Hibernian sides on repeat forever with your eyelids stapled open. But without the opportunity to indulge in completely unacceptable 1980s singing and chanting to break up the boredom. I mean I probably could have adapted 'Robertson - ouanque, ouanque, ouanque' for use against the postie but it wouldn't seem right. She's just too nice for a start.

Anyway I digress. I have what is currently the misfortune (due to having not kept it in my pants some years ago - splendidly aided and abetted by Mrs One Day Soon, its not just my fault) - of having a 16 year old grumpy Goth monster daughter and a 14 year old human food hoover son and so I have for the last half year been managing the delicate balance of both feeding the two ungrateful scrotes like a demented steam train stoker shoveling coal into an engine and at the same time stashing supplies in various places both inside and outside the house. What does this have to do with TDD you're probably too pished, uninterested or snack intoxicated to ask?

I'll tell you what it has to do with it. I am sitting on the all time mother load of snack-fest menus. I mean its so ludicrous I don't think I can list it all. But I'll give some highlights.

There are:

Terry's Chocolate oranges (yes, plural)
Packs of cherry coke
Two large toblerones
Multipacks of bounty bars
Aldi's finest snackrite sour cream and onion Pringle rip-offs. (at this point I'm not even going to do actual numbers, just assume its lots)
Familypacks of Golden Wonder Transform a snakc - BBQ flavour
Enough fizzy strawberry laces to do up the boots of a first eleven, subs and some reserves
Actual Pringles - ready salted and sour cream and chives
Curlywurly Squirlies bags
Family bars of Aero peppermint (THOSE saucy beauties are firmly in my sights)
Penn State Baked pretsels
Outsize bags of toffee poppets (thank you again Aldi)
Tunnocks Tea cakes
Biscuit varities too many to mention...

My biggest challenge is remembering where it's all hidden. A LOT of it is in old shoe boxes pretending to be converse and adidas leftovers.

And because I'm a discerning kind of a glutton I also made my own chocolate cherry brownies yesterday - with cherry liquer - for this, the most important feast day of the year.

To wash down whatever I eat of this diabetes mountain tonight I will be letting loose the home made cider. Now this stuff is potent so I'll make it clear right now that I take no responsibility for what I may post later on. In fact I'd suggest that the admins may want to operate a man-marking system at this point because zonal defence probably won't do it with them apples.

There's also a large jar of homemade gooseberry and gin jam in the cupboard which on a more morose TDD might have seen me slumped on the sofa, dressing gown akimbo and digging in with a spoon while muttering incoherently. It feels like it isn't that kind of a day but who knows, anything can happen before the door. slams. shut.

Now to business. Mother has made us pizzas for dinner - good effort for a 94 year old - so I'm off to get those, stuff my face and then settle down for the evening to, err, stuff my face.

It's every man for himself, let's hope there are no catering catastrophes. Maybe even sign a player.

That pizza was the business. The TDD day equivalent of a season opening 7 game winning run, ensuring that the bottom of the table won’t trouble us for the rest of the season. And I’m going to have to ask for additional pastries to be taken into account - mother had also made a plate of cream filled fairy cakes and - AND - eight Empire biscuits (or entire biscuits as they’re known in our manor). Quality mothering and leaves me with quite the tactical dilemma.

Chewits!!! Those, and Toffettes, Toffos and the yellow 'old penny' sized ones from a box of Quality Street are something from my youth that I'll never get back. They always manage to rip out fillings. Every. Single. Time.

I can handle not being able to walk so well now (back), I can accept the increasing migraines (kinky neck - 'ooh Matron'), but having to suck a toffee chocolate eclair saddens me the most!

Is this just a 'me' thing or can anyone else relate?

I think ODS has probably set a record for TDD, so much respect for his incredible feats.

I started the day with a carrot and walnut muffin from Waitrose, before a cup of tea and a caramel wafer- I think us Scots are geniuses at sweet creations.

Pacing myself, I had a sugar free Red Bull, followed by a pint of milk and a reduced price large Innocent smoothie from Margiotta. This was topped off with a piece of their tiffin.

At lunch I ate some left over BBQ chicken with couscous, onions and sultanas. This was followed with a crème caramel and super sweet mandarins.

On my return home, I was served up by Mrs SAK with curried mince and spinach and crispy Persian rice. I then had a second crème caramel.

Tomorrow, I will bask in our glorious TDD and enjoy a large pot of Graham's peach yoghurt which I'll lace with more mandarins. I hope we then announce Jackson Irvine as a free agent as I reach the bottom of my pot.
