BT Sports 1. Coverage starts 7:30pm with Josh expected at 10:30pm - latter going by the bookies advertising time. Coverage ends midnight, so fits in with that.

Looking forward to it. Although I did see Josh is 66/1 on at Skybet which suggests it really is a mismatch. For a World Title fight that's disappointing.

Unification fight against Ramirez for the four belts is the one though.

Bet 365 has the Josh fight on at 10pm. That's the time I was told earlier in the week as well

It's a fairly intriguing fight as his opponent is a complete unknown quantity and has never had a fight outside Thailand. The guy is unbeaten and has a high KO percentage for a light welterweight but he's not been in with anyone really of any note so it's hard to judge his level.

Khongsong might turn out to be sensational or he might be well out of his depth and stopped in the first few rounds. For that reason I do think it's a fight worth watching. I suspect Khongsong will be fairly tough but technically limited and I think Josh will break him down and stop him around 8 or 9.

Also worth noting that this is a mandatory defence so Taylor had no option but to take the fight or drop one of his world titles. It's not as if he has taken this as a easy or tune up fight.

No I know its mandatory, not having a go at Josh. More the boxing board.

I am hoping it's a decent fight and as you say his opponent is an unknown quantity. He's the same height and weight with 13 kos in 16 and unbeaten. 1/66 seems ridiculous for a boxing bout at this level.

Will be cheering on Josh.

66/1 on might just be because the bookies and fans don't know anything about him, so don't even give it a lucky punt.
Hope he wins but can't be dealing with his anti mask nonsense on twitter.

His best victory was away from home in Japan against a solid opponent, Kondo. Sparked the boy clean out.

He’s a live opponent and has worked himself into a mandatory position by winning the regional IBF strap.

Have Josh winning by late stoppage myself, but the odds don’t reflect that this is a real bananaskin for our man.

Or it was a totally toxic body punch from Taylor? I’ve had enough of conspiracy theories for one year, lol. Body punches are very deceptive in boxing.

Anyway;

Bring on Ramirez, Josh is going to rule this division. Hopefully in front of a Scottish crowd.

Is that the last 4 fighters Taylor had fought now who’ve previously been undefeated? With a combined record of 90-odd and 0? Incredible. Hope he gets the Ramirez fight in Scotland could be some night.

Hopefully his next fight is in Las Vegas next year and all the Covid 19 stuff is behind us. I’ve always wanted to go to big fight over there and supporting Taylor would fantastic with a few hundred Hibbies.

His last 5 opponents had a record of 110 and 1, to be going for undisputed after 17 fights and already having the ring magazine belt and the Ali trophy is frankly ridiculous

Easter Road would probably only be possible in June.
The Castle would only be possible in July and too small at around 8k
I’d would expect the Ramirez fight to be Feb in Vegas, Covid permitting. Then hopefully get his next fight at ER.

Nobody on here would know as it would be agreed with the council. I suspect that as Boxing Crowds are known to be rather lively shall we say and the event wouldn't likely end until about 11pm it would be less than what it is for a football game.

Sources: Jack Catterall, the WBO's No.1 contender at 140 pounds has agreed to step aside to allow Josh Taylor-Jose Ramirez to proceed for all four belts in early 2021. In return, Catterall has been assured he'll receive an immediate shot at the winner.

Quite a clever move, he would have had to beat both to get his hands on all four belts, now he only has to beat one.

Suppose you are right. I always think its a shame when one fighter holds all four and they split them up again.

In my ideal wee world there would only be one ruling body. Two semis and a final if four different holders and all divisions could be down to one world champion.

There are other MMA fighting promotions with their own champions though, such as Bellator, it is just that UFC is the biggest and most wealthy. It's more similar to the fact that most casual fans only recognise WWE/WWF wrestlers when there are many smaller promotions.

Top boxing fights come around a lot less than the top guys in MMA squaring off. There’s lots of politics with promoters and sanctioning bodies that stops the real big fights happening regularly.

Plus all UFC fights can be seen on BtSport or their Fight Pass subscription. The vast majority of fights can be accessed in the same place and PPV is rare.

I was meaning more of a comparison between the different MMA franchises and the various wrestling franchises, as UFC is not the one overarching governing body for the sport, just the best known. You're right about boxing and MMA/UFC, while the latter's popularity is growing Boxing is still the big leagues for revenue and generating interest for the big event.
