FWIW I don’t think Gray going on loan is out of the question.

He’s unlikely to play much here and although he’s got ‘other things’ included in his contract he’s only 32 so I’m sure he wants to play above anything else.

I doubt Dunfermline would be able to pay much of his wages. If that was the situation, I’d keep him

Suppose it comes down to what he wants as well. With the way he plays I don’t think, now he’s fit, he’ll be happy just sitting on the bench for the next three years .

Not saying he will definitely leave but it wouldn’t surprise me if he wanted to go out and play, if it’s not happening for him here.

Charlie Adam at Dundee, David Gray at Dunfermline, wouldn’t like to be trying to get out the championship next season

I get that, but the deal has to be right for Hibs too, if he was to go on loan, we’d probably need someone in

Of course it does. Equally, we maybe need players out to allow us to get players in.

Do you think Gray would accept a loan move there, will it not seem a slap in the face for a club captain and icon, would a permanent move like Whittaker not be more viable.

hibbyfraelibby

Given his future career path at Hibs a spell as a player coach with a local Championship side would count as a development move. Might leave us short of cover in his position unless someone is coming in though. You never know what was in the small print in Nisbet's transfer, maybe this is part of it.

Don’t think it’d be a slap in the face. He’s contracted for nearly another three years and won’t want to give that up.

He might not have any interest in leaving but, if he wants to play regularly he’d have to consider it.

It makes sense for him to be there now, as they’ll be doing preseason and bounce games

Definitely the Pars.

I appreciate what Hibs have done in giving him a long term contract but if he isn't going to feature then sentiment only goes so far in football. Forever a legend but we need to drive forward as a club. Dunfermline are a decent club and if they're offering him regular football then he should go for it.

Love going there the wheelchair viewing area is beaten only by my space at Easter Road, it's my favourite away ground.

Although being from Falkirk, I need to whisper that quietly!

I love Gray as much as the next Hibby, but Paul McGinn has been (IMO) our best player this season and is part of the most solid defence we have had in some time.

Because he’s a better player than Mcginn. His problems have all been down to fitness, but he’s fit now. To say Mcginn is a better player than Gray is preposterous imo.

Wouldn't be against him going on loan until January, similar to James.

Would mean he would get game time to get the match sharpness back. As a fully fit David Gray would definitely add something to the team.

McGinn has been superb For us this season. It’s a while, sadly, since Gray has been superb for us.

Our defence is playing as well as it has in a long, long time.

But who would cover at right back if PM gets injured?

Last season we had 4 right backs, which was excessive, but we definitely need more than one.

Is Ben Stirling not more of a squad filler than a genuine option as cover. 22 and I think he’s still to make his competitive debut (going by Wikipedia but may have played early league cup games).

His problems haven't all been down to fitness. It's been a good while since Gray was effective for us imo. Honestly, I don't think he's ever had a run of 7 games as good, in the top flight, as Paul Mcginn is on now. Mcginn is well ahead of him rn and rightly so.

Can't see him being here at the close of the window. Hope he makes it but at 22 and no league debut, it's very unlikely

Daz, Lewis, Boyle(RWB) and McGinn could all play there. I wouldn't be letting SDG go though as I can still see a place for him in the squad if not the starting 11 in a 442

Think you summed it up we will not have a match fit David Gray again so he won't be in the team. He has played very little football for sometime and simply wont be fit for long enough to hold down a place in a Hibs team.

Club legend but all playing careers come to an end.
