Now that we have the McGinn brothers signed, if they play at the same time, can anyone else remember when we had brothers on the pitch at the same time?

My memory id blighted by Graeme and Greg Miller playing (although I'm not sure if they were ever on the pitch at the same time)

Let's get the Showunmis and Gorams out the way immediately.

Allan and Mark Dempsie both played for us at the same time in the early 2000s although I don't think they played any games together.

Only ever happened on 6 occasions William and Tom Lauder played in the same HIBS team in the same games in the early 1930s

You would have thought that McGinn Snr. would have had some imagination and gone for John, Paul and Ringo but Stephen? Where did that come from?

Joe and Gerry Baker both played for Hibs, but not at the same time. If I recall correctly Gerry was signed to replace Joe after his transfer to Torino in 1961.

That can’t be right. All Saints were Nicole, Natalie, Melanie and Shaznay

So, it appears istats isn’t as thorough as one imagined. Poor data about those Showunmi brothers, which I will try to redress. In order of Hibs appearances:

Thomas
Enoch
Rab
Declan
Malcolm

The latter three didn’t trouble the first team much, as we all know, with loan spells at Berwick, Cowdenbeath, Lokomotiv Leipzig, River Plate and Sutton United before moving on from ER.

Obviously we should acknowledge the role their sisters played in the women’s team too.

Dolores, Iona and Claudine all played their part, literally.

Brothers in Arms?

I suppose that was before 2012, when they entered Dire Straits.

I’m picturing a rural farmstead, night time, couple of utes parked up in front of the porch, crickets chirruping.

Papa Alex Miller, on a swingchair, shotgun on his lap, bourbon at his side.

Kenny, Willie, Liam, Graeme and Greg all sitting cross-legged, waiting to hear what Papa Miller has to say.

Andy Millen lurking at the gable end, desperate to be part of it but deprived for the sake of the wrong consonant at the end of his surname

Yes, morrisey's football career often goes under the radar.

Johnny Morrissey never played for Hibs but he did play for both Liverpool clubs.

And that's a rare thing.
