Signed a new five year contract does this mean SJMc is more likely to move on? Or will they both stay?

I can’t see McGinn moving any time soon. All the transfer hype seemed to be about getting an improved contract at Villa, and it’s most definitely worked.
As an aside, Villa getting Grealish to sign a new five year deal is an unbelievable piece of business for them. Genuinely thought he would have moved on to a top 4 team.

Most likely he he will have a release clause set at some mega money price.

He’s like Harry Kane though. A genuine fan playing at his boyhood club in the EPL.
Life could be a lot worse.

Don't think so. Sure they sing "he's one of our own" at Tottenham games.

Just googled it, think he played for them for a year in the academy but isn’t a fan.

Doesn’t surprise me really, I never really saw the big boys wanting him or him wanting to move. And before anyone goes on about his stats, I know all that just never saw him away from Villa.

I watched a lot of Villa games last season due to the SJM connection. Grealish is a fantastic player. Skillful, quick feet, takes players on, holds the ball up well, great range of short and long range passing, full of energy. He's a very talented very exciting player to watch when given the service. Great piece of business by Villa. If SJM doesn't move on I'll keep watching Villa's games when I can. I genuinely expected Grealish to move to Man Utd or one of the other massive clubs.

He had a brief trial at Arsenal’s youth academy (which is based near where Kane grew up) and iirc was even photographed in an Arsenal shirt as a kid. But he is 100% Spurs.

He’s a very talented lad, seems to have a great attitude, and he’s English so great for any club needing to fulfil their quota of home grown stars.
I have no doubt Grealish would have had offers from other EPL clubs this summer. Maybe even Liverpool

Iv never really seen the big deal with Grealish if I’m being honest. A good player but not one that would be a key player in a top 4 team imo.
Wouldn't he surprised to see Steve Bruce at Newcastle try get McGinn. Was a big fan of him at Villa and obviously signed him from Hibs.

I love watching Grealish. The socks at the ankles, plays with a swagger, loves trying things football artist type player.
I'm not sure if he has enough about him to be a star at a top 4 club but if I was a Villa fan he'd be worth the entrance fee alone.

Yeah he's a joy to watch, there are always the accusations that he holds on to the ball for too long but I love watching him.
Don't think there was any possibility of SJM moving, needs a really good season under his belt now.

The often asked question applies to Grealish; does he stick out at Villa because he's a good player in a mostly average EPL team, or would he be an even better player in a top 4 team with superstars around him?
For me, Grealish is a fantastic talent, although more of an individual than a team player. Not sure he would be allowed the same freedom of role in a top 4 team. He's certainly a joy to watch and it's a cracking piece of business by Villa.

Watched a lot of Villa since McGinn went and i think Grealish is top quality. Not as good but plays like Totti. Joy to watch at times

Probably none of it has any influence on John McGinn’s future but if I had to have a guess I think that selling Grealish would make it more likely they would have to keep hold of McGinn. Whether Grealish signing a new contract makes McGinn being sold more likely, I don’t think so.

I thought Hibs fans normally appreciate players who actually want to play football rather than play the ugly percentages game?

Yep. This chat about him not being a team player. He created the most chances last season in the league. He must be doing something for the other players!
He’s a fantastic player and a rare joy to watch.

Doesn’t look like McGinn is going anywhere soon, interview with Dean Smith in the Guardian:
“We’re planning this season around Jack as one of our core players, along with John McGinn, who’s like having a new signing now that he’s back at full speed, Tyrone Mings and Douglas Luiz, who finished the season fantastically,” said Smith.

Grealish is a top quality player with that swashbuckling style that is a throwback to the late 60s early 70s.
What clearly let's him down is his off field antics which would put a few off him I would imagine.
As for Kane, he's Spurs through and through. There is well documented footage of him maybe in his early teens and all he could talk about was Spurs this and Spurs that.

For me the quality isn't any better than what I've seen on the continent, never has been. Sky do a fantastic job of promoting it that's the big difference. I tried watching English football before ours started and it bored me to tears. Granted the lack of fans probably didn't help. Probably doesn't help not having an English team either. Just can't get excited by it.

I would agree try watching Burnley v WBA or Sheffield Utd v West Ham whilst there are some great games there is also a lot of poor games in there too.

I'll show a fleeting interest in say Liverpool v Man United as it's a big game. Same as El Clasico but even then I'd struggle to watch it without zoning in and out and checking Hibs.net 😂. Couldn't even tell you who plays for Burnley or WBA. The coverage and pundits are terrific though. Neville, Carragher and Keane are gold.

As villa are my English team (and I use that saying loosely) it great to see him signing a new contract, he is a proper footballer not a programmed robot like a lot of players down there every team needs someone to get you of your seat he does that also the new owners seem to be putting a lot of money into the club.

Created more chances for his teammates than any other player in the league last season other than Kevin De Bruyne.

This is true, but nowadays these teams are all strong, athletic and technically very good. This shouldn’t be a surprise - after 30 years of pumping in more and more money, the EPL now attracts many of the best players in the world.
There are still poor games but mostly because teams are desperate to avoid relegation and can cancel each other out. Burnley isn’t a bigger club than Hibs (arguably smaller) but their resources absolutely dwarf ours.

Also fouled more than any other player.
Grealish is a cracking player, capable of creating something out of nothing, taking people on, holding the ball in tight spaces and scoring worldy goals, he's everything you want to see in the pitch.

Watching Villa last night was like watching a school team - there's one lad who's miles better than all the others and he wanders all over the pitch taking the ball off his mates and trying to score worldies. Cracking goal though!

In season 2013-4 Jack Grealish and Celtic's Callum McGregor both played 37 times on loan for Notts County. Jack was around 19 then and an absolute joy to watch. He mainly played as an orthodox outside-left and would drift past 2-3-4 players effortlessly, put beautiful crosses in or cause havoc by driving inside into the box. Albeit this was in League One. Every time he got the ball there was a buzz of anticipation in the ground. Worth the admission himself at times.
For me, players like Jack Grealish make the game what it is
