What about Paul McGinn? Certainly deserved it more than O'Donnell

I like Paul McGinn, but I don’t think he’s all of a sudden a better right back than O’Donnell just cos he’s been at Hibs about half a season.

O’Donnells been the better player the last few years, I thought he played pretty well against us this season too.

I agree with you bud,McGinn could do a job in there.
The problem with Scotland national team is we pick players based on where their grannies were born rather than go for solid and reliable domestic picks.
The likes of Slovakia,Serbia, these teams are hard to beat because they play teams full of solid fit dependable players.if your cv has you playing in English champ,or you made the bench for the old firm then that puts you well in line for a call up.

Certainly in the last squad, yes. Was astonished that SOD was picked having not had a club for so long. Ruled out Ryan Fraser on the same basis, and I know who is prefer in the squad.

O’Donnell has played 5 games this season before the Scotland v Israel game, including in the Europa League.

McGinn had played one more game.

Scotland have been terrible at the back for a while. Taking Hanlon, Porteous and McGinn - who are forming a very solid unit at club level right now - and adding one of the World’s best left- backs and sticking a couple of premier league midfielders in front of them isn’t actually the daftest idea ever suggested. It’s not perfect but it’s not insane.

But why do that when you can play midfielders at CB, or give countless opportunities to players who have never cut it at that level.
