All I know about him is he's 16 (17 in Jan), he's a real prospect and he's Garry's son. 15-year-old just made his debut for Grimsby, guessing Josh is a big strong lad, any chance of him making a first team appearance this season? How long on his contract?

He looks very similar to Garry at same age.

Good physique although not sure if that what makes him stick out in youth games.

High hopes.

I watched him play a bit when he was in the under 12’s/13’s and thought technically he was a good player, he didn’t have the same bulk but always thought he was tall. If he’s filled out and has kept his technical development going then he could be a player.

Sure he was one that had enrolled in the modules at Napier Uni. Good to see he’s using the head as well.

In the pictures Hibs just put up he doesn’t look particularly big.

I listened to a podcast recently and it was mentioned that the lads of Whittaker, Scott Brown, Thomson and O’Connor are all in our academy.

I think it was Dave Armstrong on Twitter and he interviewed Kev Thomson, I’m sure it was mentioned on that [emoji1303]

Well, good luck to them all.

How mad would it be to have a second golden generation, 20 years on?!

Will be a vast difference between the ages though
Josh is 16, no idea what age the rest are, probably under 10

I thought he lived down south now? Maybe his nephew?

Jackie has business interests up here and spends his time between here and York. His son must be about 15 or 16 now and is at school up here.

I might have missed something here, how come he’s making his debut for Grimsby and is he 15 or 16?

i think the 15 y/o is a different laddie, OP was using him as a comparison to ask whether Josh O'Connor could be in and around our first team squad

I watched a programme on the I player yesterday about his Dad's career. Not sure if it's a new programme, but he mentions he has stressed to Josh he must stick in with his studies so he has something to fall back on & is keen for his laddie not to make the same mistakes he did. Shows a bit footage of them training together.

Signed a professional contract today. I remember seeing a report about a year ago saying that teams down south were after him, so this is very positive news by the sounds of it.
