I’m sure it was not the intention of the mods but an advert that appears regularly with Prince Harry standing in front of a Union Jack is scam claiming he is endorsing a get rich quick scheme
Just saying

Might be on to something there. Ever since Fyvie left we've been looking for someone to play the ginger role.

Fyvie left under a cloud and will probably want to come back though. I think harry would have stayed if the boss was a ginger though, probably the opposite with Fyvie who would have preferred the guy with the big ears.

We don’t decide what ads you see.
What other websites you’ve been visiting or searching for does that :cb

Generally targeted ads don't work quite as directly as hibsbollah searches for ear wax stuff > advertise ear wax stuff to hibsbollah. The companies that track your web activity build a profile of you and file you into demographic groups, and advertisers can then target their ads at the demographic groups of their choice. That's why people see sports betting ads without ever having placed a bet or searched for betting stuff in their lives – they've been put in a 'football fan' or 'sports fan' demographic group, which are obvious targets for betting ads. Same thing with Billy seeing ads for football shirts of clubs he has no interest in.
There will be some cases where it is a direct connection to an individual search, but mostly not.

So which demographic group would somebody be in that got ads for, say, male impotence?

Serious answer to a spurious question: those are almost certainly based on assumptions about your age and gender. Sorry, your friend's age and gender.

My 'friend' is very offended.
Especially as he has a photo of Angela Merkel on his bedside table... in case of emergencies.

Turn your mic off on your phone!! The amount of **** that you get hit with is unbelievable. Couple of years back a young lass at work was talking about learning Swedish at uni. Within a couple of hours we were both getting ads for Swedish language courses

Those targeted ads are terrible! They look at what you post and then show you relevant ads to do with whatever it is you wrote about! Disgusting tbh!

I've actually bought myself two pairs of trainers and have my eye on another pair [emoji3]. The adverts must be doing what they are meant to do. I'm still waiting for the Russian brides adverts though [emoji56]

I'd be wary.
I think the feminine form is FilipinA.

Question: Is it your Wi-Fi or your device that personalise the ads you get. I keep getting ads for places like Boohoo.com and be ducked if I've ever been on there. Got 2 daughters who shop all the time so I'm thinking Wi-Fi but that can't be right.

Got 2 daughters who shop all the time so I'm thinking Wi-Fi but that can't be right.I was going to say the device, technically though, it could be the IP address (the connection your hub has made at the telephone exchange). The problem with that though is when you switch your hub off and back on it'll quite likely pick up a different IP address.
Still think it's device driven :agree

Aye as has been said by pretty much everybody, we don't have control over what ads are shown, it's through Google's advertisement platform and is based on cookies, searches and how ever many other factors and algorithms.
I believe there should be a little blue/white box in the corner or the ads that you can click on to report any that are inappropriate. Google generally does okay at filtering out bad advertisers, but when some slip through, it depends on some community policing. Same goes for any other site that uses Google Ads. :aok:

Absolutely, similar thing happened to me. I understand the need for advertising, but I dont understand why .net is in bed with a company that uses listening spyware.
Try it for yourself. Not cool.

I'm not sure the income they'd generate showing ads would justify the expense and manpower needed to listen to everyones conversation on the off chance theres an opportunity to show an ad.
Isn't the most obvious answer that if you've been talking about doing something, you've searched it up online or shown a basic interest in a similar topic?
Bingo and Baths
Think I'll post my daily adverts on.net from now on, maybe my ads will be exactly what someone is looking for
Today's ads are for Ebay and payroll software on Yahoo search
Damn, no good to me. Maybe something more useful tomorrow
