Hibs.net has a range of forums for discussion of all manner of topics and we welcome wide ranging discussion and the myriad opinions that makes the site what it is. The remit of the main board is clearly defined as 'The messageboard for all Hibs fans to chat about Hibs and football in general'. In recent weeks and months there has been an unfortunate trend emerging that has seen some threads become increasingly politcised, particularly around the topic of Scottish independence. It is understandable that this is a topic about which people may have strong opinions about but it is neither appropriate nor fair to take threads wildly off topic nor is it acceptable to insult or troll other member who don't share your viewpoint. There are obviously instances in which the lines between politics and sport become blurred; racism, sectarianism and the question of fans attending matches all potentially fall into this category and such topics will be treated on a case by case basis. Name calling, insults and political points irrelevant to the topic being discussed will be dealt with in the form of threads being closed or deleted and in the case of the individual(s) warnings, infractions and, where the first 2 are ineffective, bans.

There are numerous threads on the Holy Ground forum discussing Scottish independence as well as range of other topics. If you wish to discuss politics, in a respectful manner, then this is the place for you. It is not fair on those who actively choose not to visit that area of the forum to have it spill over to a football specific forum.

As always thanks for your continued support of the site and for your cooperation.

Good to see you’ve taken the point on board.

It was only yesterday after all that you made a wee political comment on the linesman thread

Well said. I’m all for freedom of speech but let’s keep politics off this board.

The point is, the Holy Gound is the place for politics, not Hibs Net Main Forum.

Football was politicised years ago and it’s far too late to stop it now.

Still, I take the point and will endeavour to do my best!

I’ve always been a keen Monster Raving Loony Party adherent. It was a sad day when Screaming(David)Lord Sutch called it a day. I was able to support the Natural Law Party for a while. They believed in Yogic Jumping,Levitation and Thought Transference instead of a physical parliament. All very logical but they seem to have faded away.
