Did you buy them direct from the Usher Hall? Sometimes buying direct from the venue can work out much cheaper. But in general, you're right, concert ticket costs are high, especially when you get those blooming booking fees. And I suspect they'll only get dearer once they factor in Covid overheads. One of my first concerts was Pink Floyd at Wembley in 1974; ticket price £2.20.

On a related note, I wonder how the venues are going to cope next year with many of these rescheduled dates. If the shows have previously sold out, how will they achieve any form of distancing? Presumably they're all hoping for a vaccine.

Ooh sometimes these puns really irk me. It's like the circus on here sometimes.

It has put me off going to concerts lately to be honest. We all complain about how expensive football is but if you compare to other things like concerts it is still decent value. My ST is about 400 for 19games. It probably equates to 6 concerts

My first music festival back in 2004 cost me £78 - for the equivalent now you'd need to add £200 to that.

We did Primavera festival in Barcelona two summers back - we made a proper holiday of it but if you booked the cheapest reasonable B&B or hostel and booked flights well in advance you'd genuinely be cheaper doing that than TRNSMT/Reading/Glastonbury but with better weather, a great line-up and a wee trip abroad to go with it.

Then you can quarantine when you get back 😉

I fancied Guns N Roses at Bellahouston Park next summer but £86 a pop plus a booking fee per ticket is just too much. Time you add in transport, a few drinks and something to eat you aren't getting any change out of £300 for 2 of us.

The capacity is 35K and 35K will pay that or more for the various packages so nothing is going to change anytime soon.

It’s how the artists make their money now that their albums basically go for free on Spotify etc.
