Do we need to think about giving the team a break ? When you look at it none of the teams are really setting the world alight in the league

the players have had a pretty abnormal pre-season and on top of that the whole way they will be used to preparing for games etc will have changed

How many of us went back to work in the new normal and took 3/4 weeks to adjust

We are sitting 2nd in the league and have only lost one game , we now have chance to re group and improve after the break

Like it or not Aberdeen played 90 minutes on Saturday. Training session missed or not the hibs boys would have been doing stuff at the park I would hope to top up for today. Aberdeen looked as fresh as a daisy, we looked totally goosed.

What does a goal look like? This stuff is dire.

This is the biggest issue, since Doidge scored against United we haven't looked like hitting the net from open play at all. Looking at a few other teams they seemed to have started to score goals and create more chances.

St Johnstone started to look a lot healthier as did Killie. Aberdeen after they scored were the far better side and could have had another goal or two themselves and they're moving in the right direction following their Covid issue. We had a cracking start results wise while no one was performing well, including us, the problem is some teams are starting to improve the performances while we look as dull as we did 3 weeks ago.

It's not time to panic or anything like that but there is no way we can play like we have in the last 3/4 games over the next month and expect to be top 3 or 4.

We created about 4/5 good chances against Aberdeen. We definitely looked like hitting the net first half.

Said on the match day thread we could have easily gone in at HT a couple of goals up. Would Nisbet have stuck some of those chances away? Looked tailor made for him. Boyle's brain fart killed us. Aberdeen are a team that can defend a lead very well. Still pissed off about it this morning. All in all its a very good start to the season and I'd have bitten your hand off for 13 points before the international break.

I agree that our midfield looked knackered by half time.

A break might be good, after a few days of pre season type training

We did create a couple of decent chances however there is no structure to our play we seldom dominate possession let alone dominate the other team. Normally when a team is a goal down the pressure builds and the game goes on chances appear there was none of that. Aberdeen were very comfortable and imho we could still be playing and not have scored.

I didn’t think wee looked knackered physically. Just totally devoid of ideas.

The changes we made, to bring fresh players on, didn’t make any impact either. We ended up with a lot of attacking players on the park but it all looked a bit unorganised to me.

From my perspective:

Hibs played well for the first half an hour, but unfortunately missed a couple of really good chances to score. Then Aberdeen scored from a penalty, and shut up shop.

Hibs, as with many other teams, couldn't find an answer to Aberdeens' 'ten men behind the ball' tactic.

Contrary to what some of the totally over the top posters on here have said, we were not 'dire', 'totally rubbish', or any of the other stupid phrases used. We have the basis for a decent team but are missing one or two players in the middle of the park.

If we could move on some of the myriad of similar midfielders and replace them with a bit more of a dynamic player, then we could have a decent season.

Yesterday without Gogic and Nisbet, both of whom could have influenced the game imo, the game pointed out how much we missed Gogic to protect the defence and even points to our need to make a defensive midfielder to play along side Gogic our top priority.

It's still been a fantastic start to the season, I am still optimistic that we will have a good season, we have a really good defence to build on and it is still early day's with Horgan away and Murphy coming in who can't possibly be judged on 30 minutes, were still a team in transition, but I see a lot to be positive about.

Even in the second half we created a great chance with Wright, only he knows why he didn’t shoot.

Yep. The grinding negativity on here every time a result doesn’t go out way is tiresome. Get over it, realise we are second in the league with a decent squad and manager and if we get the football looking prettier then we will have a great season ahead of us, puff the chest out and be proud to be a Hibby right now.

This is the thing though we never had a player like Gogic last season and we didn’t look as bad as yesterday. In a way it was good that we are were winning when playing poorly but it is a bit a worry on the form side.

I don’t think we missed Gogic’s protecting the defence. The defence was fine and all our best players were in it.We missed Gogic because of his ability to challenge in midfield and make it difficult for the other team in midfield and also his ability to get around the park.Aberdeen were fresher than us but have played less games.Take our chances and we’ll be a different team.

I was going to say that with the first eleven changing for the Dons game maybe that had an effect on our flow and structure but reading your post again I think you are referring to a lack of structure in general. JR changes formation frequently and maybe that is having an effect on the structure of our play. With Gogic, Horgan and Nisbet all out (and say what you like about Horgan, doesn't change the fact that he's been a starter in every game except the last one), for the Don's game I suppose we could have expected us to be a bit weaker, introducing players such as Murphy, Wright, and Mallan back who haven't played at all or very little for us then our flow and structure could be effected. I have a feeling though that we've had to many dire performances this season which are only acceptable because of our points tally, but eventually you get what you deserve and considering our luck against St J and poorer performance against Utd, not great against M/well, it's caught up with us. There's room for a lot of improvement.
