Hallberg, Allan, Newell and Wright.

Nobody takes a man on, it's short back and sides all the time with this midfield, and when the opposition shuttle across like Aberdeen do, we resort to a punt up the park.

Doidge will win his share, but when he's up on his own against 3 lumbering giants, 8 times out of ten it's just going to come right back at us.

I didn't enjoy watching Heckingbottom's team and Jack Ross is morphing into Alex Miller Mk II.

2 home games, no goals and barely working the opposition goalie in all that time?

Nah, that'll not do, Ross.

Hallberg has no legs and can’t do the Gogic role.

Newell has a nice touch but gets brushed off the ball.

Allan is frankly unfit, slow, overweight, and a man down. Form is temporary as they say but he needs dropped.

Wright passing was about 20% accuracy today, didn’t take on his man and looked knackered after 60 mins.

They have Ferguson and McCrorie in midfield, full is strength and legs.

Gogic missing big factor but one man doesn’t make that much of a difference.

Aberdeens full Midfield would walk in to our team even with Gogic available.

Very concerning that Jack Ross has still yet to realise we need someone in the middle of the pitch that can take the ball from the defence and dictate play a bit.

Would like to see Scott Allan played deep in the short term until we hopefully sort this out.

Although, the style of play so far may mean its never rectified.

We had 3 wingers on the park second half and i cant remember one of them beating anyone one on one

Today was the big chance for those midfielders to show that they’re at the level that Hibs aspire to, and not one of them stepped up to take it.

That itself was very telling. There was plenty of effort and hard work but actually, inspiration needs to go with perspiration, and that was sorely lacking. We needed players to take responsibility to run the game - McCrory, ironically, did that very thing for Aberdeen but we didn’t have that in our midfield.

We can make some allowance for the absence of Gogic and Nisbet, and for the disruption that covid caused for training, but that only extends so far - the performance today wasn’t much better than in the last few games so somethings needs to improve.

The fine margins that we won games by went the other way today, and that’s the trouble with winning games when you’re not playing well.

The break gives Ross the chance to get the players out on the training pitch and work on the attacking play but the players need to understand that no amount of coaching will be effective if they don’t take responsibility on the pitch.
