We played Israel in our last Nations League campaign. Because we won the group we got a playoff, which also happens to be against Israel. If we win that we play Norway or Serbia in the playoff final with the winner qualifying for the Euros. Playoffs were originally due to be in March before Covid kicked in.

To confuse things, we also drew Israel in the new Nations League campaign which may give a playoff opportunity for the 2022 World Cup, if we win the group and are unsuccessful in our World Cup qualifying group.

In answer to your question, we are starting a new competition before finishing the last one, yes, because of Covid.

A lot of ball but not offering much threat. Probably why SJM is so far forward not where he has played most of his career. Another case of playing players out of position to try and cover deficiencies. Simply short of talent especially in the final third/going forward.

I'd argue half of the Scotland team arent household names either. Just a dearth of talent, simple as. Robertson Tierney and McGinn more than decent the rest are pretty average at best. Most of us on here are of an age when Scotland had serious talent all over the park, plying their trades at the top level all over Britain and Europe. Simply not the case now, the football world has changed and boy it shows. Scotland will have their moment in the sun, there is no reason why Scotland cant have the recent success (as in the last couple of decades) of ROI, Wales and N Ireland but it will be fleeting rather than permanent unless serious change occurs.

Looking at this from a non-fitba supporter perspective, if you had to choose a section of the community to give special dispensation to continue working, and expect them to be responsible, mature and compliant with the letter and spirit of the rules.... the last section would be bloody footballers.
