Anyone know what kind of teams are going to be in the new competition? Is it one we could potentially go quite far in? Quite excited about it, it could be exactly what teams like hibs or aberdeen need.

Unsure away days will ever be the same again.. this would’ve been ideal couple years back for euro trips

No idea tbh I'd also like to know how the money is distributed in this tournament. How much is the minimum you can make even at the first round stage?

I think that if we can finish 3rd this season we would go straight into the final round of qualifying for the Europa league. If we win obviously we go into the group stages but if we lose we go straight into the group stages of the new comp. Either way we have lots of Euro games to play. And although the prize money for the new comp won’t be as big as Europa, we should still be able to make money from extra games etc. It’s a great opportunity for us.

Scottish Cup winners get the Europa League place. Enter at the third qualifying round, one before the playoff round. Third and fourth go in to second qualifying round of the Conference League.

Third will get the Europa League place if first or second win the cup, obviously.

It’s worth investing to get 3rd, if there’s a chance of getting into Europa league group stages, riches for us

It’s only the cup winners that get into the Europa league, 3rd place goes into conference I think. Personally I think it should be the other way around. I think if either of the top 2 win the cup then 3rd place gets the Europa place.

If we get the cup winners european place (Scottish cup winner or 3rd place in league) we enter the Europa league at the third qualifying round which is the same stage we met Molde at the last time.

If we lose there we drop down to the play-off round of the conference league which is one step away from those group stages.

If we make it to the play-off round in the Europa league and win we are in the Europa league groups. Lose we still go straight into the conference league groups instead.

I'm pretty sure we don't have the second champions league place and 5 total European places until next season.

Last season we got high enough in the coefficient rankings, but due to the summer leagues this doesn't kick in until the next again season.

I just checked and it looks like I'm wrong

All the more reason to go for third this year!

We should be aiming to make the groups of this every year from next season. Going further will depend on how much notice the teams from the big 5/6 leagues take of it.

How easy would it be for Scotland to get more teams in the Europa League by improving the coefficient?

Near impossible. It would need Scotland to rise to 6th in the rankings.

From the other coefficient thread....

Looks like you would need to be in the top 6 countries to get 6 euro spots.

Reading how the tournament works, it just looks like all the CL/EL rejects will drop down in the knockout stages and kick the **** out of everyone else.

But it's the champions league rejects from the lowest ranked countries that are getting papped out at the first qualifying round.

We would be one of the highest ranked countries putting entrants into the conference league

Am I correct in saying that whoever wins the 2019/20 Scottish Cup Final played in December is not eligible for a European spot, by winning it.

I imagine that's right. Last seasons Europa League entrants will already have started and most likely been put out by the time the final comes round

No, as the 2020/21 Europa League qualification matches are already underway. Place was given to Aberdeen who finished fourth.
