Was a very good goalie, even just a few years ago on loan at Torino. Struggled since but seems a genuine, hard working guy who has had a rough time. Has worked hard to find himself a club.

It’s the same as man united signing lee grant and Chelsea signing rob green. It makes total sense as it’s an additional homegrown player allowing them to sign good quality foreign players

Didn't celtic consider signing him recently?

3rd choice keeper and he counts as homegrown. So instead of Michael vorm they can use a non homegrown slot elsewhere.

He's not quite ready for them yet.

He was mingin at Torino, as he has been for most of his career. Just another in a long, long line of english keepers overhyped by their media in the hope they'd finally found a decent one.

Can't decide who's more overrated. Him or Pickford

You think a guy with 2 premier league titles, an FA cup, 2 league cups, 75 England caps and over 300 premier league appearences was mingin' most of his career and he earned all that because of the media hype?

Sure you aren't a little biased against him?

He was actually pretty decent at Torino. Many of their fans wanted him back.

They both seem to get themselves very psyched up / pumped about for games, kinda want your goalkeeper to be calm and focused I would have thought?

Couple of clean sheets against the smaller teams but a lot of high profile mistakes. Chairman on record as saying he didn't expect so many mistakes from an England international. Not great.

For most of his career! Don’t be silly he was a very good keeper with plenty of success

Decent keeper. He had a cracking game away at arsenal for Burnley and was unlucky to lose his place a couple of weeks later. The competition for the number 1 shirt at Burnley was ridiculous that season though with Pope, Heaton and Hart.

He was poorly treated by Guardiola, being hung out to dry and told you aren't good enough publicly would dent anyone's confidence especially when the guy brought into replace you was an unmitigated disaster.

People often laugh at guys like Grant, Green, Lonergan et al but they are brought in for more than filling a home grown quota. Goalkeeper drills need bodies and having a competent experienced head who can run through them a high level and also provide cover if a situation arises is invaluable for a club. That also allows youngsters to go out on loan. The guy Gillespie who was at Motherwell last season is now at Newcastle, great move for him and let's Woodman go on loan. In the case of Hart he'll also be looking to push Gazzainga for the right to challenge Lloris.

Well Pickford has won bugger all while Hart has a number of medals.

Hart is a decent shot-stopper but was pushed out at City because he proved unable to adapt his game to what was required.

Guardiola expects a goalkeeper to function as part of the midfield pinging pricise long balls to to the forwards rather than aimlessly booting it upfield.

That seemed to affect his confidence and he ended up as third choice at Burnley after an unimpressive spell at Torino. He now looks like being third choice at Spurs.

He would have been better dropping down to the Championship, but he obviously wasn't keen on taking the pay cut involed.

His performance against Barcelona in 2015 is one of the best I've seen from a goalkeeper.

I remember when Hibs signed an international goalkeeper who's career had reached a very low point and was written off by many. This man fought his way back and went on to gain more international caps while with Hibs. The goalkeeper's name was Jim Leighton. Maybe Hart will prove many wrong. I say good luck to him.

Scotland has fortunately had some good keepers but none finer than Leighton.

Not a bad keeper, was excellent when he first came through at City and won the league etc and England's number one. But then something seemed to effect him confidence wise then it became fashionable to keep slating every mistake he ever made when other keepers were making them. Fair play to him for going to Torino and trying something different but I remember you would read stories about him having another howler over there almost like the press wanted him to be terrible.

I had thought he could have grabbed himself a Leeds or West Brom etc just getting promoted and be their number 1 and get going again but I guess it's not a bad gig to be 2nd/3rd choice at Spurs and pick up a tidy wage.
