If he wanted back down South . Good luck to him . We definitely need someone in now as it leaves us very short in the ch department.

I liked him, will be a miss. We need some depth in there NOW, Porteous will be doubtless be injured/suspended a few times this season.

I liked him too. Decent if not spectacular. Spoke to him at Paul Hanlon’s testimonial and he seemed a really nice guy. All the best for the future Adam.

all these undisclosed fees... do we have any idea what kind of figures we’re talking about?

We've got McGregor as cover and also SDG and Stevenson should we need to re-jig defence.

Hopefully will pave the way for Docherty to return.

That surprises you? When was the last time Hibs disclosed a fee?

Is there any truth in the O'Donnell rumour? Perhaps him coming in with McGinn moving into the middle if required.

Anyway good luck to Adam. He was probably our best defender last season once he got a run in the side but if he sees him families future elsewhere then you can't blame him for putting them 1st.

A good player who always gave his best. Cant ask for more than that from someone. Wish him well and hope he has a happy and successful career.

I was told by somebody who'd know that there's nothing in the O'Donnell rumour.

Wow that's a bit of a surprise. Would have preferred to keep him but understand if he's homesick it's the best for club and player.

Really hope with him and Kamberi off the books we can bring in another player or 2.

I reckon SDG could play in a back 3 as a CH as well.

Why?

All the best to him. I wasn’t sold on him at first but once Hecky was out the door he won me round by doing his job well with some no-nonsense, solid defending and becoming a goal threat at set pieces. Good player.

Disappointed by this, he was really good last season and thought he'd play a major role in the team this term. Ultimately if he wanted to go then not much Hibs could do unfortunately.

I've enough faith in Ross et al to know that they'll be doing what they can to find a suitable replacement, whoever that may be.

I think it’s good business all round. Player wanted to go back to England, club demand a fee (my guess will be <£100k) and free up a wage which given the current uncertainty is no bad thing. Wouldn’t be surprised if we got a loan player in to cover till January by which time we may have some clarity on the current madness and what our budget looks like for the rest of the season.

Hopefully we can replace him with better. Or do we have a youth player who can fill the 4th choice ch role?

Adam Jackson in my opinion was a better defender than Hanlon. He was physically stronger and better in the air

Think we're probably ok. McGregor can fill in. McGinn, Doig, Gogic can all play centre back if required short term. Also Stirling (who admittedly I've not seen much).

McCrorie can also cover if that deal goes ahead.

I rate Jackson highly and think he's been unlucky during his time at Hibs.

Better than Hanlon! That's a very subjective view. There's been times that Hanlon has looked average, but I put that down to little protection from the midfield, which now we've got from Gogic.

Over the piece, I'm more than happy that Paul Hanlon is a Hibs player and I hope he ends his playing days as a one-man club legend.

I liked what we saw of Jackson. Paul Hanlon seemed off the pace all last season and never reached the standards we came to expect of him. He never seems to have fully recovered from injury. Last season therefore I agree with you, Jackson showed up better.
However, on the strength of performances this season’s first three matches I think we have the Hanlon we know and love back. It could well be that the lack of a quality defensive midfielder has helped majorly but it’s hard to deny that rejuvenated Paul Hanlon is a much more complete player than Jackson.

This is a bit much. I'm nowhere near Hanlon or Porto, not the guy who was playing and playing well for Hibs. He was better last season than Porteous IMO.

Agree with this. Jackson was calmness personified almost always emerging with the ball and his distribution was excellent Good in the air he chipped in with a few goals and had made the position his own

Porteous needs to file last season in the bin and kick on and cut out the reckless stuff

I agree he was nowhere near Porteous last season, he was head and shoulders above him and an excellent defender for us. Sorry to see him go, hopefully Porteous alongside a rejuvenated Paul Hanlon will prosper, still shows signs of rashness and silly lunges that he needs to eradicate though.
