A 12 point deduction would seem fair to me .

3 point penalty for every fixture they’re unable to fulfil wouldn’t be unreasonable IMO.

A just punishment but a dangerous precedent. Can you imagine if the league comes down to the wire for 10 in a row. You could have potential attacks on old firm players to stop/gain 10 in a row happening.

Aberdeen were willing to play this game until the government stepped in too.

I think ban for every player involved of around 10 games would be more apt.

I agree Aberdeen should be punished starting with yesterday's game being awarded to St Johnstone with a 5goal deficit. Any other affected games should incur the same penalty. All players involved should also be given a 5 game ban.

I would just award the games 3-0 to the opposing teams.

But the punishment isn't because they tested positive, it's because they went out to a bar when they agreed they wouldn't.

I don't think the club should be punished but the players certainly should. The club should fine them heavily and the SPFL should punish them as well. There has to be a warning sent out to all the rest of the players in the league to please screw the nut.

On Sportscene Final results, they questioned with the 8 players not able to play in their next 2 games, it could give an unfair advantage to play them after they get these players back!
If that's the case surely all games they play should be postponed till all the players are back?

No different to players being injured or suspended for a game then back to play someone else. If we lose Doidge or Nisbet through injury should we be allowed to postpone games until they are back, just so it doesn’t impact on teams we play once they are fit again?

Seen that muppet Andy Walker spouting the same crap on Sky sports yesterday, about maintaining the integrity of the sporting competition or some *****, the players made an arse of it, if another club benefits from that then so be it. Hopefully the Accies get a result and it’ll put even more daylight between us and the Dons.

Agreed.

Aberdeen the club didn't do anything wrong, but can be punished by having to play matches with a weakened squad. They dodged a bullet by not having to play St Johnstone yesterday. Can't agree with their opponents benefitting with an automatic 3-0 win.

Remember that if any of us breaks the rules, then we are the ones who get fined and not our employers.

I’m sure Aberdeen will fine all involved. Game on Sat should have went ahead . Doesn’t make sense to postpone one and play the other two .

If I break a rule that causes a problem for my employer then both me and the employer would be punished. Trying to think of a decent example, something like a breach of data protection by me sending an email to someone that it wasn’t intended for. That’s not the employers fault, it’s mine, however they’d need to report it to the information commissioner. They would be liable for any punishment, not me. It would then be down to the employer to punish me for it.

The game was postponed at short notice to reduce the chance of transmission to Perth. If the SG think there is a similar risk, they will call the other games off.

It is well reported that some of our players were out last Saturday too. The only difference between them and the Aberdeen players is sheer luck.

Well reported by who? I’ve only seen a couple of comments on here, and again, players being out isn’t the problem, it’s where they are out and how they are out. If 8 of our players were all out and sharing a table then I’d expect repercussions from the club.

Those looking for points deductions etc need to take a step back - its unlikely that this is the last cockup during this strange period.

Fans of other clubs making assumptions that their players are angels are just daft.

Spot on, there will be flare ups all over the country from time to time, its a certainty until its either gone or a jab becomes available for us all.

If they were...IF...the club will know about it and will take the appropriate action.

Na no punishment. I believe no club should have to suffer because of covid 💔👺😈

They've jeopardised their clubs income, their fellow professionals ability to work and the return to recreational football for thousands of amateurs.
The clubs were given protocols that they had to follow with regard to getting a return to football, I'm sure within that will be adhering to government restrictions with regard to socialising.
If any club has failed to properly train their staff in the adherence of the rules then yes the club must be punished, they have failed in their duty which they knowingly signed up to. I include Hibs or any other team in that.
If we lose all levels of football due to player stupidity, and clubs not realising how stupid their staff can be, then I'll be mad if there's no comeback for that.

Dead simple, fine the players and give the money to their local NHS trust.

Warn all clubs similarly. Done.

The 8 players involved should have their registrations suspended for the season they just put in jeopardy and Aberdeen FC given a new registration ban for remainder of this window.

That’s you doing something in your job. It’s probably more comparable to a club being punished for an on-field brawl or failing to control their players.

If you were caught speeding, drink-driving or smacking someone, your employer wouldn’t be punished but they might take action against you (especially if it had a material impact on your ability to do your job).

That would be the case if it wasn’t to do with the job at all. These players breached rules that were set upon by the governing bodies when it came to their jobs, to allow them early access to something that wasn’t more widely available.

Not taking illegal drugs or performance-enhancers are rules set by the governing bodies but clubs don’t get punished when players breach the rules. Governing bodies can’t hold clubs responsible for players being twats when they are outside of the club’s care imho.

Still don't know why they weren't required to complete the fixtures. If they have to put out youth players, so be it.

But that doesn’t equate to a game not being able to be fulfilled. If the game went ahead then Aberdeen would be fine, it’s the fact the game was required to be called off that should get Aberdeen in trouble.

Assume the risk of infected players passing it on within Aberdeen squad then passing it on to Saints.

Youth players can still be potential sources of infection.

It was a SG decision, not the SPFL.

Cormack made it very clear that Aberdeen were willing to play the game.

It was the Scottish Government that postponed it for non-football reasons.

Because of their players behaviour the game couldn’t take place. The reason the game wasn’t played is due to their players actions, whether the club wanted to play it or not it was deemed unsafe to do so.

I suspect it's in case it has made its way around the training ground but the other players were in the incubation period when the tests were done

Apparently after thinking about it the SFA are going to make Aberdeen play their next home game behind closed doors.

It would be great if Aberdeen suspended (unpaid)them all for 2 weeks and so missing the St J game as well as the next two. Players wages going to charity. Can’t see it though
