View Full Version : Match Updates Livingston 1 - 4 Hibs (Nisbet x3, Doidge)
Excellent from every single player on the park today.
Marciano dealt with the long throws very well. Back 4 so so solid and who knows what the pen was for. Doig and Hanlon the standouts although porteous and McGinn also great. Gogic and newell very good in the middle of the park. Horgan excellent assists him and boyle pace huge threat on the counters boyle maybe they poorest on the park but still a big threat.
Doidge and Nesbit, unreal great partnership for first game, great finishes from nesbit and doidge poaching for his which is great for us.
Promising things bring on Tuesday.

It's funny how the media seemed to have us down as a one man team all week then today we win 4-1, it could have been more and we didn't need that one man to contribute much at all.
Brilliant team performance

Was a shock to see Nisbet on the scoresheet for us. I thought Hearts had pinched him from under our noses? :confused:I think Hearts signed the useless fat Nisbet they were on about over there. Can't be any other explanation.

Given that Marvin’s challenge on Hanlon could have been a leg breaker, maybe it’s time to call a stop to the love-in. Great player for Hibs in his day, but now just another opponent.

Thought the young laddie Doig was very good today
Absolutley brilliant win. Very tough place to go and team to play against.
I bloody love Gogic, exactly what we’ve been missing.
Massive credit to Jack Ross for changing it to a 442 today.
2 games in a row we’ve looked solid defensively, offering the opposition very little. 2 goals conceded, one a rocket free kick and the other a pen. Happy days.
By all accounts Boyler struggled a bit but up stepped Daryl with a superb performance.
Long way to go but we are moving in right direction. Maybe a couple of other additions but well done do JR today.

Defence played really well and it feels good after so long of giving away cheap goals. Still a way to go but looking so much tighter.

Boyce has 2 goals in 7 games for hearts in the premiership vs nisbet 3 goals in 2 games.

Great performance from us today. We worked hard all game and every area of the pitch we had control of.
Livi were absolutely dreadful. The financial crisis that has hit the SPFL looks like it has severely weakened a lot of teams. I’ll be well disappointed if we can’t make top 3 this season.

Brilliant first half for Hibs, really enjoyed that, Nisbet who according to kickback "they would not take" looked a real bargain for Hibs today, exactly what you want for a Hibs striker strong, plays for the team and continues his scoring streak playing up a level, Horgan proving his doubters wrong and the whole team set up from Ross was strong, defence was class too, sun is shining, Hibs win, no Hearts makes for a good day

The laddie Nisbet looks a prospect, and although it's only 90 minutes him and Doidge look a good foil for each other.
I thought Doig looked a bit lost last week but he looked more accomplished and solid this week - defended stoutly and picked his time to go forward.
Only disappointment was Boyle, I thought he continually picked the wrong option and looked from the video feed like he was more interested in having a laugh and joke with the Livingston players rather than getting about the pitch and pulling them out their shape.
Good win though against a stuffy team that I think will struggle and hopefully go down.

Never going to do the fancy stuff but stops the opposition, no one is going to enjoy playing against him. He will give the ballers the freedom to play. So far, I really like the look of him.

You seemed to go very quiet as the game wore on & Horgan had a stormer.
Even if you are a Hibby, (which I now doubt), try letting a player at least start the game before slating him in future.

What really pleases me is that we showed last week we could grind out a result and deal with pressure in a tight game.
Today we showed real quality at one the trickiest places to go in the league. With Motherwell and Aberdeen struggling we have put ourselves in a great position.

Great result, great performance.
Before the match kicked off I asked for goals for Nisbet & Doidge. Duly delivered, so well pleased for them both.
Thought Livi looked awful, & not the team of previous seasons, but that's not to detract from a very good Hibs win, at historically a difficult away ground for us.

So after losing last year we needed Marv, we missed the boat with Ambrose... thankfully today puts those myths to bed. Centre halves for the second week in a row look absolutely faultless, Gogic is a massive upgrade on Bartley, and our attacking options with Gullan, Allan, Mallan all still able to come into our attacking options gives us outstanding balance throughout.

Tbf to Marv, that’s the type of player he is and the reason we all loved him so much. Unfortunately for him, he looked like the player he was during his last season with us, just lacking a bit of sharpness and that contributed to being a bit late for his tackle on Hanlon (could of easily been a red) and I think it was him who was clumsy in giving away the pen. I don’t think there is any bad blood towards the club he still loves.

Much though I love Marvin that was poor today. His tackle on Paul H was a shocker & a straight red all day long. I'm sure he got a knock in the tackle but he threw himself to the ground as if he had a serious injury to avoid the red. He finished the game. He did the same after the penalty & I think he was over emotionally involved today. If Ryan P had made that tackle, Sportscene would devote 10 minutes to analysing it & basically saying he should have a lengthy ban.

Brilliant performance today and one that I think we can all agree we've waited a while to see from a Hibs team. Fully in control and the 4 could have been 6/7 with the chances we created. Obviously i wanted Boyle to play well but i thought it was actually promising to see how well we played and how free scoring we were with him off form. I was a bit anxious we were becoming too reliant on him.

Totally agree about Boyle, he had a couple of clear opportunities to use his pace and checked out without going for it which is completely unlike him.
Playing on a carpet is a nightmare for a player with pace like Boyle .we will take the 4-1 win and on to Utd on Tuesday . Boyle on grass is a different animal.

They did but what's that got to do with Livingston's record of conceding 4 goals at home?
Sorry SDG I was heading out and picked up your post wrong.

I thought Boyle was alright, he had some great runs and a few good chances, just the final pass/shot would let him down, astro doesn't favour speedy players. Great team performance though.

Think that's correct. He reminded me of a young Steven Whittaker today.
But better defensively.

:agree: Disgusting tackle to be honest, really poor from him and poor from the BBC not to highlight it on Sportscene, even if he does work for them.
Agree that is two game changing decisions which have gone against us in two games what with the handball shout last eeek which both bizarrely haven't been highlighted by sportscene. Given they hghlighted a poor challenge by a Motherwell player yesterday you really have to ask what the heck is going on. A red card every day of the week and Bartley got away with one at ER last season on Horgan in the first half of one of the drawn games. These are massive decisions which directly affect the game and the refereeing and editing of the highlights are nowhere near good enough.

Agree completely you wouldn't like to think it wasn't being highlighted because he appears on the show which maybe underlines why current players maybe shouldn't be on these shows.

Agreed. They also highlighted McGinn's tackle last week. It was a complete accident & much less severe than Marvs. Tonight will be interesting but will no doubt be all about the uglies.

Yep Sportscene with their selective highlights again. Really poor.

Delighted for Horgan just in response to this alone. Fair enough, he needs to produce more consistently but filling the first page of the match thread with this kind of stuff is completely unnecessary imo.
Reminds me of the stuff someone called "Gail" used to post when I first joined .net. Never knowingly positive to paraphrase the JLP slogan

Considering it took us until November to get two wins on the board last season I couldn’t really be any happier.
