Particularly pleased that we are not using this as some kind of virtue signalling, "arent we wonderful" PR exercise in the way that Budge did with the Save the Children shirt sponsorship.

A prodigal approach in the midst of a paucity of virtues is unsurprising and there is a school of thought that acting virtuously brings happiness or emotional satisfaction and that acting in that way to is central to flourishing and to your welfare...... unfortunately such virtue probably needs to be both sincere and selfless.

That ostensibly was absent in the recent running of that club. Another significant pillar of what the Greeks called eudemonia (a happy flourishing state) is good fortune.. most certainly not to be found in the timing of the pandemic or the recent stream of management appointments. Unlucky or what? :wink:

This was mentioned in the press releases at the time we launched the strip and logo, perhaps too subtly, but it was said. I never got the angst about us not having income from a shirt sponsor this season when it was clear that we weren’t massively out of pocket for making the gesture.

Well played to all involved, from the supporters who put their hands in their pockets, to the club for running with the idea and making it happen.

Save the Children asked Budge for advice, which she was very happy to give of course, and they were so grateful that they begged her to go public about her generous sponsorship deal.

Budge is extremely reluctant to talk about herself as we all know, but Barack Obama persuaded her to step into the limelight for once. Or possibly it was the Dalai Lama, who also wanted advice on how to run a famous institution with a global following.
