Not read the whole thread, but there seems to be one side complaining that the club are not catering for PPV for 1 game while the other side is complaining that season tickets are devalued if PPV is less than £20.
I'm not a season ticket holder so I'll have to rely on Hibs.net for updates and the BBC radio commentary, just like I have for too many seasons. Nothing different from the last few years.
What seems to be forgotten in the debate is that season ticket holders are getting access to Hibs TV live games regardless of where they are which is new and Hibs are having to pay more to the provider so that they can help season ticket holders see games until crowds are allowed back. Hopefully this will not be too long but this is costing the club money that could be put to better use.
It is limited to U.K. and Ireland.

The other side is that the club don't have the outlay associated with opening the stadium to thousands of people (police & stewarding mostly).
Those who have bought STs have made a tremendous gesture given the circumstances and it's only right that the club do what they can to provide live streaming access to home matches.

In addition to the overseas Hibs TV subscriptions who already get live stream of all home games.
On the streaming and bandwidth issues, during lockdown even netflix and amazon reduced the quality of the stream to accommodate the increased viewers.

Yeah but you said what was different is that Hibs season ticket holders will be getting access to all games wherever they are. They won’t.

I wonder how many of the 10500 will actually log on for the game. I know out of the 6 season ticket holders in my family we’d only use a max 3 most weeks. Likelihood is we’ll only use 1 or 2 this Saturday as meeting up.

Quite frankly ... draining!
👍🏻 Well said. It seems that a significant number of people think social media is only there to complain about stuff and drive agendas. It is also a very convenient way for “visitors” to plant the seeds of disruption on rival sites. I rather think we are experiencing a lot of that at present. After all, they don’t have a game to prepare for 😉

People just need to remember that its not Hibs that are providing the stream. Everyone except Rangers has outsourced the delivery to a 3rd party. This will obviously be forgotten about when there are issues either during testing or during the games on Saturday. It will also be forgotten when the majority of issues will be at the user side. Most people don't bother to read instructions, and will complain without reading or following them. A lot of people will have issues due to poor wifi, or poor through-put from their broadband provider. Again they will just assume its a Hibs issue. We are a tiny little football team who cannot afford to deliver a Netflix/Prime style streaming production. What we will get is the best the club can afford. And just because Ron had ownership of some TV companies doesn't make him an expert in providing cost effective LIVE streaming from football grounds in Scotland.
Sorry I just can’t really buy that argument when the price Hibs are charging, and have charged over the years, is significantly more than any other streaming services. Yes of course those platforms have millions of users, however that’s not relevant to the end user, i.e. me, if my paying double what Netflix costs and getting a guff stream.
There have been countless issues with Hibs TV over a number of years. This is when a few hundred at most are viewing from overseas. I have fibre internet, EVERY other site works fine, and yet when there are issues with Hibs TV, I am told it’s likely an issue at my end. It is not.
I hope everything goes smoothly at the weekend but history suggests otherwise.

I think Hibs are bang on with their approach. Can you imagine the outcry if it doesn't work?
We know there will likely be 10,500 potential logins on Saturday. We will learn a lot out of that broadcast and how stable the platform is and our ability to guarantee our ST's see the game without it crashing. Once we understand that, I'm sure we will open it up to more.
As for other clubs approaches. I know I'm sounding a bit Jambo here but they have significantly smaller fanbase than ours and the risk of crashing is lower.
As for the likes of Livi. I get the impression they won't really give too much of a toss if it does crash. This was the club that opened 1 turnstile to us on the 29th of December, knowing that there was likely to be a huge walk-up crowd
That’s my take on it. It seems sensible to launch to everyone obligated to receiving the service before opening it up.

Over the past couple of seasons I've had almost zero problems with my Hibs TV streams - the very occasional minute or two of Verizon splash screen here and there but that's about it.
So if the output from Hibs is working & the problem isn't at your end - where is it then?

So because it works for you it’s fine for every other user? I’m not the only one who experiences these issues.
Given that I have ZERO issues with any other sites and download speed between 40 - 100mbps, how would you suggest the issue is mine?
It has worked well on occasion but very hit and miss in terms of buffering, picture / audio out of sync etc. Hugely frustrating at 4am I can tell you.

I'm not saying that this issue is your's. All I'm saying is that if it's working for me (& the majority of other subscribers) then the output from Hibs TV is obviously working.
Therefore the problem is elsewhere.

I live outside Perth Australia in a pretty remote spot and the absolute best I get is 6.7Mps. I have had no issues for approx 4 yrs now. It’s not all about download speed or else I would have issues every week.

Well that is really not helpful, and is the type of answer that is regularly provided by Hibs. If they want to lose out on mine, and others money because they can’t provide a service when charging a premium rate, then so be it. After 10+ years I would’ve thought they might’ve investigated whatever this “elsewhere” problem is that only affects their site.

Yes, I watch on a 75” screen with no issues. My laptop is hard wired into the router. Nothing runs on my laptop except the game, no emails, no updates etc etc. It’s amazing how many computers are set up to check for updates during the night which is when the games are on.

I put a question mark as not 100% sure it was you that surprised me by saying you’d never been near ER in many years.
Plenty to say for yourself on here though.
Not sure what your point is tbh.
Are folk only allowed to contribute to the board if they’re a UK resident now, possess an ST and roll up at ER in person every other week - covid permitting obviously?

Hibs are in a difficult situation here and IMO have got it right.
Over 10,000 people have paid a lot of money that they will not get full value for. Hibs have got to do their best to ensure they get something in return and cannot risk those people being locked out while someone who has chucked in £20 manages to get access ahead of them.
In an ideal world they would be able to sell this to a much wider audience, but need to get the basics right first.

I’m no computer geek but have been watching Hibs TV since before it’s inception 😁
My setup is laptop hard wired to the router. HDMI from laptop to TV.
Laptop has emails closed down and all updates turned off so nothing takes up any memory / processor than the bare minimum.

Believe me, I'd help if I could but I'm not an expert.
I've posted this before, but I remember once (last year) having real problems with my stream. Normally I watch either on my laptop or on my tv via chromecast from either my laptop or my mobile (all wi-fi from my internet/tv box). On this instance, nothing was working.
I tried on my pc which is hard wired but this was only slightly better, even though youtube & other streaming sites were working fine.
I switched off the wi-fi on my phone and tried on 4G (normally crap reception in my house) and the stream was working fine. I plugged my phone into my laptop to use as a point of access/modem and watched the rest of the match no problem.
That's one example where I had a problem but both my broadband & Hibs TV's output were working fine. The problem was obviously elsewhere - possibly throttling by my ISP?

Let me ask you what was the situation with season ticket holders in previous seasons when they went abroad on holiday in October? Were they given access to Hibs TV whilst they were abroad? If not why should they expect to get it this season?

No they weren't but there was a suggestion from the club last week that season ticket holders could use their log ins to watch games whilst on holiday outwith the UK and Republic of Ireland.
Considering the amount of general confusion there's been surrounding the other FAQs last night, clarifying your earlier post was worthwhile.

ST holders have never had “free” access to Hibs TV in previous seasons. Its always been an add-on so incomparable.

Everyone else ok = the content provider is fine
You ok 99.9% of the time = you almost certainly fine
Most probable issue is going to be somewhere in the network, this could be locally in UK (but see point 1 above), or at the recieving end, again see point 1 but to a lesser degree, or it could be on the interconnect to the local distro company, after that it gets more complicated if there's more than one supplier, in the UK for example some companies piggyback on another's supply 'pipe ' then split out again at either regional or even exchange level. Every point of that will be subjected to a bandwidth challenge dependent on the commercial agreements made.
None of that above, the info provider (Hibs TV in our case) has any control over or even the ability to diagnose any issues reported to them unfortunately the end user with the problem needs to contact their own network provider who can check their bit and in turn raise with their provider and so on.... for what it's worth, when I used to be involved in this stuff the most common issue was bandwidth at the local network hub, either a fault or the local provider hadn't bought enough.
Hope that all makes sense and sorry for being a bit long winded!

Buy a ST. The club have said it’s the only way to guarantee you can watch the game. There will always be limited bandwidth for streaming, so imagine it’s like any other sold out game. If you don’t have a ST you aren’t guaranteed to get in. It’s not a normal Hibs v Killie game and people just need to accept that.
Not everyone can afford a ST, I have not worked in 4 months and lived off my wife's PT wages plus the 80% self employed Gov payout, I'm back to work in a couple of weeks and cannot guarantee the same wages ( taxi driver ) some guys working at £4 per hour just now. I cannot justify spending £400 on a ST and had to give up my regular seat in the East due to this virus. I can watch Sky and I'll get the highlights show on BBC but it would've been handy being able to get the odd game on pay per view and the 1st game on saturday would've been a great way to kick off the new Hibs TV. I think we had around 13.5K ST's last season so we're around 2k down.

It’s only the first game you’ll miss then as Hibs ensure it is stable enough for future or make changes to it. Every game from here on in will be shown I have no doubt.
Every sympathy with people in your situation but unfortunately as a business hibs need to prioritise those that have stumped up the cash this year. They aren’t throwing everyone else onto the scrap heap, just saying that you’ll have to wait your turn.

The Gov money helped and we get another in August but talking to a few of the guys, the taxi trade seems goosed right now, no tourists and very few people out and about spending, only guys who have been working have been owners, guys like me who rent it wasn't worth the effort.
