Peter Green died today. One of the greatest guitarists I have had the good fortune to see live. A total genius who write some outstanding songs and led Fleetwood Mac when they were a fantastic blues/rock outfit. RIP

It always feels a little sad when someone with a great talent passes but I am so very saddened in particular to hear the news about Peter. He was very much my favourite guitarist, I always felt his playing so emotional, sensitive and soulful. He had a beautiful melodic tone and was truly unique. A genius.

A measure of his modesty and selflessness as a man was in how he suggested that 'his' band should take the names of band members, Mick Fleetwood and John McVie.

I managed to see him playing wtih the Splinter Group a few years back and without being at the wonderful level of his peak years, it was nevertheless humbling to see the great man with a guitar in his hands. I was glad I could say i saw him and hear a sample of 'that' sound.

Rest in Peace and sleep peacefully Greeny.

Sad news, he was a real blues man who interpreted the genre brilliantly. Fleetwood Mac's version of 'I Need Your Love So Bad' is truly great, thanks to Green.
