It is likely that Grealish will move on (Man U appear favourites) so I reckon Villa would get plenty dosh for him and would need to keep SJM whether they go down or not. I can't see both being sold.

I've a real soft spot for them now too- great club, great fans and a beautiful old fashioned stadium. The Hibs connection is the icing on the cake.

I'm not sure SJM would be sold if they got relegated as they'd need him to get back up. Grealish I think will definitely go either way- they're not cash strapped anyway but he'll be going for silly money

Couldn't care less about Aston Villa. They got a terrific player for buttons. I do want the best for John McGinn though, helped give me my best day as a Hibs supporter and his attitude was always spot on so if that means Aston Villa staying up then hope they do.

I think that Villa will stay up but I haven’t a lot of time for them. I worked in Birmingham for six years from 1977 to 1983 as hated their manager Ron Saunders from his time at Manchester City.

I always preferred West Brom and Birmingham City.

I think it’s more likely he moves on, if Villa get relegated. Most these players will have a clause, most likely 50% that their wages get cut if they are relegated.

Clearly McGinn would not want a 50% pay cut, if such a clause exists and therefore would be keen on a move to stay in the Premiership. So I am sure it wouldn’t be better for Hibs for Villa to go down.

Although, I just can’t seem to cheer on Villa to get beat when McGinn is playing!!

Bruce said there were all sorts of clauses in the deal so I'd expect there to be suff about appearances etc.

We defo want Villa to stay up, either way if he stays then he would have more chance of a move in January or later and for more than a championship player would fetch... if he is sold this summer then as a premiership player it will take a decent amount to prise him form Villa, so win/win for Hibs should Villa stay up.

Absolutely, it’s tough to come via the play offs. Norwich won the Championship league comfortably last season, and they ended up bottom by quiet a distance

Despite not being at his best after coming back from injury he has still played a big part in keeping them up. Says a lot that Smith has played McGinn for close enough 90 mins every game since starting back.

We all know how important a player he can be to a midfield and I could only wish him the best, very happy for him. Also think his value will still be pretty high considering the looked their best when he was fit and in the side.

John did well before the injury but it set him back a bit and his form has only got back up to that level again in the last two games.
Another season impressing in the top league with Villa before a good move and a wedge coming Hibs way next summer. All good.
