BBC: Scotland's top players face over 40 games before end of 2020

Is this really necessary? I didn't actually realise that last season's European tournaments were going to be revived. Why not just scrap them, along with the remaining Scottish Cup fixtures, same as happened with the leagues? Last season is done as far as I'm concerned.

And why don't they just scrap the Euros instead of trying to hold them next summer instead? Events like the Open, Wimbledon etc have simply been voided for the year and won't be rescheduled. It would allow national teams just to focus on World Cup qualifying instead.

Given the circumstances, why complicate matters further by shoehorning yet more fixtures into a schedule that's going to be delicate enough to manage as it is? Or does this all simply come down to money?

Some of us are quite excited by the euros and have tickets to some of the games. Why so negative?

What a ridiculous post, I'd much rather watch the euros and the champions league the two pinnacle events in european football, and my team in a semi final than have players on good money getting a bit more space between games the poor wee lambs.

World cup qualifiers are an utter borefest and Wimbledon and the open cancelled because they had pandemic insurance cover and staging behind closed doors would void that policy and cost them millions.

It's always about the money.

The biggest reason the likes of the EPL is being completed at great expense and trouble is to avoid returning vast sums of money to Sky etc.

We’ve got a cup semi final v a championship team to look forward to. Sounds good to me.

This thread is exactly why the idea that we could finish this season and delay next season was complete pie in the sky stuff.

Seems absurd that McGregor has played 183 matches in the last 3 seasons.
Should have been rested more often in games against smaller teams.

The bittersest game ever in the kingdom of bitter against the all time bitter champions.🏆

Realism rather than negativity. It just seems to me over-ambitious to try to fit so much into a short space of time when we still have no idea what sort of place we'll be in once folk start heading off on summer holidays, going back to pubs etc. A second wave of infections over the winter appears to be a distinct likelihood and I would have thought tentative fixture scheduling (ie just the 2020/21 league fixtures) would be a more sensible way to approach things.

Why? It doesn’t seem to have done him any harm. Fair play to him, his attitude must be spot on. Players are always looking for excuses these days so to be fit and available pretty much every single game says a lot about him.

This will only affect the Old Firm in Scotland who have massive squads with plenty cover all on massive wages.

I really don’t see what the issue is to be honest, the players will have had 5 months off by the time it restarts, plenty proper football gives us plenty to do whilst stuck in our houses.
