Thank goodness that with the significant spike in domestic abuse cases during lockdown we have Richard Madeley here to advise us on the subject.

Richard Madeley sorry for 'misjudged' domestic violence advice (https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-53248770?fbclid=IwAR1wHTa30tyRWJ0T7ACGmoSECjL_pqHX fe53xggKfwLstMWhOSeiXG-sCxI)

I've never understood why people like this character, with no training or education in the subject matter can set themselves up as 'experts'. This man has always been an utter clown and has decades of experience of putting his size ten in it, in a most monumental and memorable way. He's now here advising us on domestic abuse!

Do everyone a favour and leave it to the professionals pal.

It’s symptomatic in many ways of the modern “people have had enough of experts” era.

Celebrities and those with social media clout appear to have more influence at times than those who actually know their stuff.

I’m actually aghast at times at the people who can be listened to when it comes to my line of work.

“Being on the telly” implies a certain knowledge and integrity to many. The likes of Donald Trump have done rather nicely out of it.

Although rather than just criticise the great, uneducated, unwashed, I do think that those who know what they’re doing need to ask questions of themselves as to how this has been allowed to happen.

I’m convinced Steve Coogan based Alan Partridge on Madeley.

I thought Alan Titchmarsh-Madeley love child.

to be fair to RM, he contacted Refuge indecently yesterday to apologise, he knows he’s been a twat.

Exactly....Hes no expert!

I stopped doing wellness festivals because more and more it was about the image, celebrity etc of the person giving the message (which were generally soundbites with no substance) rather than those who didnt have the profile but were a lot more knowledgeable (and I dont mean me ;-) I remember being on the same line up as a ex model who had gone bust & got through an eating disorder & drug problem. She came on stage mentioned one of U2 & other famous friends, talked about how hard it was being so good looking( when she didnt believe she was) & told everyone to believe in themselves (because she hadnt in the past)......started sobbing & got a standing ovation...I came on after her & felt it was like Ricky Gervais doing his motivational training talk in The Office :greengrin (just because I tried to get them to clap to Simply the Best at the end, dont judge me :na na:

I’m convinced Steve Coogan based Alan Partridge on Madeley.100%. I actually scrolled down to see if anyone had mentioned partridge. The man is a real life Alan partridge. A complete buffoon.
