Any fans?i got into him heavily in the early 90's and picked up all of his albums ..most people might only know him from the 1978 hit Fool(If You Think Its Over) but all of his records contain a ton of great tunes ...

Yep, fool if you think it's over.

It is now.....

(IIRC, Chris Rea had a song Whatever Happened to Benny Santini. Now updated as Whatever Happened to Lena Loyd?)

Alex Ferguson was a big fan of his version of Road To Hell, I believe :agree:

I’m guessing it was someone who was previously banned, either that admins really don’t like Chris Rea. :greengrin

Only a Jambo would be into Chris Rea. Fairly obvious why he’s been booted. Well spotted admins.

The video for ‘Driving Home For Christmas’ combines cheesetasticness with Xmasness to such an extent, that it becomes like a horrible building that gets listed, simply because it is so horrible it needs to be listed in order to remind every future generation about what ‘horrible’ looks like.

It should be compulsory viewing, once every so often, just to remind us how lucky we actually are.

To be fair I'm also a big fan of the old Forestry Commission building on Corstorphine Road, so my taste is questionable!

Has anyone ever seen a building that looks remarkably like that one, only worse? (Clue: I've been told it has wonderful views of the (Tyne) Castle (High School)

Jings that brings back memories of getting absolutely rat-arsed at a party there back in the early 80s. Got lost in the corridors looking for the loo. Think I found it eventually...

I like it too. Curvy shape. I can see luxury flats on that site soon like the old Corstorphine Hospital opposite.

I could never understand why it was such a big building.

How many people did they need?

I could never understand why it was such a big building.

How many people did they need? One of my favourite clients ever, sadly no longer with us, was Sir Peter Hutchison who at the time was chairman of the Forestry Commission.

I asked him the same question and he was happy to explain it all. They manage about 2.5 million acres of forest in Scotland and as well as the technical and ecological considerations, there's also a mountain of work on the legal, business & educational matters.

He was a very smart cookie who was also a trustee of the Botanics. I really enjoyed my dealings with him and could have listened to him talk all day on the subjects which impassioned him.

I worked in Silvan House before I retired. It was home of several Government Departments, not just Forestry Commission.

My personal highlight was counting 54 cars passing before I could make a right turn out of the car park to head east towards town.

It’s the little things that make you appreciate retirement 😄

I worked there from 1978 to 1981. It was all FC then.

I remember some marvellous evenings in the bar. Or rather,vI don't!
