Wife is 30 next year and wants to go to Las Vegas end of June or early July next summer.
I will organise flights from Dublin when the go on sale because the kids will be going to her parents in Ireland whilst we are away.
The problem I have is I’m clueless about the best places to stay. I want something really nice for her but hopefully good value for money. Does anyone have any ideas? I’m praying that there is a big boxing show on when we are there 😂😂

I was due to go in April but obviously it got cancelled. I had booked the MGM Grand which wasn’t too badly priced and most folk who had been that I’d spoke to loved it.
Alternatively, I know a few folk who have previously stayed in the Trump. Whilst I know some folk wouldn’t stay there as a matter of principle it is apparently very nice. Also because it doesn’t have a casino it’s a bit more reasonably priced.

It all depends on your budget.
Caesar's Palace, the Belagio etc are all Fabulously luxurious, but you pay for it.
I stayed at the Venetian 18 months ago which was fantastic, but there are less expensive places. You have to add in the "resort fee" which is over and above the hotel rate and can be hundreds per week.

I think she will want to go to one of the well known ones, I’m honestly clueless about over there. My worry is we will qualify for Europe and I will be stuck over there with a face like an arse missing the games.

We stayed in the Luxor then went to the Grand Canyon for a couple of nights then came back to Las Vegas and stayed in New York, New York.
Both nice, both good value.
Generally speaking hotels in the central strip are more expensive / luxurious. Wynn, Bellagio, Venetian, etc. With the ones at the edges being of better value.
Enjoy, it’s a great place, like Disney for Adults.

I stayed at the Signature at MGM Grand when I was there.
It was excellent, round the back of the MGM Grand via a series of walkways (with those powered airport walkway things).
I didn't do too much at the hotel, kipped by the pool a few times, slept in the bed very occasionally and enjoyed the massive hot tub in the bathroom. It was fairly luxurious and I remember having been able to get a cracking deal on it at the time.
It was a wild week when I was there - a stag, a wedding and a 30th birthday within 6 days.
TBH I shudder a bit to think about it but it was a lot of fun at the time.
I'd love to go back.

My mate just suggested we split some time between Las Vegas and New York, is it easy enough to book split destination flights nowadays?
I normally take nothing to do with booking holidays 😂😂

We done Vegas, San Fran, New York two years ago. Wasn’t really fussed about going to Vegas but absolutely loved it.
We have Vegas booked for October staying in the Westgate where stayed last time, fantastic value and on a monorail station so really easy to get anywhere on strip if you don’t want to walk.
Apart from the normal Vegas stuff we done:
Helicopter and lunch in the Grand Canyon
Shooting Range
Neon Museum

Yup.
I use google flights. It’s easy as pie. I’ve done NYC and Miami in one trip numerous times.

Yes, it's no bother. Can often work out cheaper. Try SkyScanner and choose the "multi-city" option. You can also do "open-jaw" returns, so you could book flights out to Vegas, take a road trip and then back via Salt Lake City or something.
Transatlantic flight prices tend to start high, then come down a big jump, then gradually go back up again. The sweet spot comes about 4-6 months before the flight date.

If there's a big boxing show then the prices will rocket, so maybe not as good value for money (depending on whether you'd consider the trade off of money and boxing though :greengrin)

We stayed in the Mirage when there a few years ago. Usually I book hols piecemeal but for the Vegas trip just booked a package with British Airways, and was surprised at how reasonable it was. From memory several of the hotels on the strip from the Wynn down to the Luxor were similarly priced so we had loads to choose from.

I always stay at the Luxor...great hotel....been there 5 times ... when booking in ask for a room in the towers at the back, a lot quieter than the pyramid. Also you buy a 24 hour buffet band which is great value.

Stayed at the Wynn 5 years ago. It was excellent but the only thing is that it is at one end of the strip so be prepared for a bit of a walk or taxis.
I’d recommend a hot air balloon ride. Just be careful as it can be postponed really last minute due to weather conditions. Me and my ex got lucky in that the weather changed just as they were ready to call it off. An Irish couple that was there had been trying for three days without luck and that was their final opportunity as they were flying home that night.
Also be careful with hotels blocking off large amounts on your card as a security ’deposit’. Ended up getting my card declined when trying to pay for theatre tickets because of the obscene amount they had blocked off.

No need to walk or taxi, just use the monorail surely?

Been twice there’s a bus think it’s called the deuce ,it’s only a few dollars and you can get on /off all day goes to Fremont st and the shopping outlet as well ,stayed at trump hotel bed was enormous ,just off the strip but away from the bedlam ,we only used it as a place to fly to 2 days were enough ,there’s nice stretches of Route 66 if your driving to Grand Canyon, and Death Valley worth driving to

Zion & Bryce canyons also. I didn’t like Vegas much, it’s like Blackpool on steroids. Probably good if you’re 20-something and there to sesh.

We stayed in the sister property the Vdara next door.....got all the access rights to the Aria, but bigger rooms for pretty much half the cost.
I would highly recommend looking at that as an option.
