Looking forward to seeing joe back in action as I thought he was much improved under jack ross.

Can always remember the ross county 2-2 game from October and he got some serious stick from the east but who can forget his set pieces especially vs dundee united, right on a plate for doidge.

Good player!

I am not often wrong about a HIBS player but proved me and others wrong

Good to see - can’t wait to see him back in action

Think he proved 99% of the support wrong as we’d all written him off as a dud, he had turned into one of the first names on the team sheet before everything came to a halt.

I’m delighted he’s turned it round. I really hope he kicks on this season.

Central midfield of Newall and Docherty with Allan in front? Maybe too lightweight.

Watched him away to Stirling Albion pre-season and didn’t think in a million years he’d be a player I’d be looking forward to seeing next season. Definitely not a winger.

A hat trick of assists for Doidge’s hat trick and his corners are the best we’ve had since Liam Henderson.

Having seen him down here a few times I thought he was a very good signing -glad to see it's started to work out for him and he's proving me right.

On the other hand I thought Vela was an even better signing.

Far too lightweight. There are a lot of assists in that midfield but also a lot of goals getting conceded.

He seems to be able to handle himself too. Not many people can shove him off the ball. He did really well when stevenson was out and he filled in at lb/lwb.

We bought and played him as a winger. He is certainly NOT a winger. He basically said that himself on arrival. Never had the pace for it.

Once moved into centre mid he has been a lot better

I have nothing much against Hecky but this was one of his more obvious mistakes.

Thought he looked dreadful away at Carlisle pre season and even worse once the competitive games started.

He’s really proved me and lots of others wrong though and he started to look very good. Hopefully he can pick up where he left off.

On the other hand, I’ve stuck by Doidge from the off :greengrin

He’s a good player and night and day from the one who arrived. My fear is that he can’t play in the same midfield as Allan as leaves too much for the 3rd midfielder to do without the ball. Which is the same for Mallan, so we essentially have 3 midfielders of which we can only really ever use 1 of at a time.

Feel dirty for saying this but his transformation reminds me of Paul Hartley.

Quality player, get him in centre mid and build team around him

That’s my feeling. If we can move one of them on then it will be no bad thing.

Exactly how I see it.

All good players with some excellent attributes but you'll never fit more than one of them into a functioning midfield. Against weaker teams, at home, you could possibly make a diamond work but you're going to struggle to win a derby or a game against Celtic, Rangers or Aberdeen with that (I know we did it and played well against Aberdeen last season but they were minging that day.)

Newell looks to have the strongest all round game and probably shades it.

It's weird to look at 3 of your better players and suggest you need to get rid of a t least 1 of them but that's the way it is.

Hibs will continue to struggle until they grasp this fact.

I really like Newell actually. He's come on leaps and bounds and has established himself as one of our most important players, along with Doidge.

Get the right blend around those 2 and we could have a decent team.

It’s a tricky one as we could possibly get money for Mallan but not in this climate.

Still to be fully convinced by Newell, but he definitely improved as the season went on.

He certainly proved me wrong. Like may others my first impressions after a few games were that we had a dud. It appears that with right manager playing him in the right position with the right tactics he has flourished and now looks the very good signing we were all told to expect.
Kudos to the guy and lets kick on.

Terrible winger. Fantastic CM. Looking forward to seeing him again.

Like him playing just in front of the back 4. Can see a pass and importantly passes the ball forward, is determined and strong, great deadball specialist for corners and free kicks into the box.

Yeah. I remember his first interview and him saying he wasn't a winger, then Hecky stuck him out wide. Very impressive in the middle and we lost a bit of momentum when he got injured.
