I see the football governing body in Hungary has told their players that if they reveal messages of support for George Floyd the opposition will be awarded a penalty. This was after a player displayed a t-shirt after he scored.

I really hope this happens and the opposition score the penalty then celebrate by revealing a message in support for G Floyd also :greengrin

Could be interesting with each team in turn getting a penalty over and over...

Is this true? Wheres it being reported?

I didn't think you could ever award a pen for something that's happened outside the box. It doesn't make sense.

I'd like to see the report too. I don't believe for a moment any federation under FIFA has the power to award a penalty to punish a political message.

Yeah, obviously local FAs could define their own disciplinary procedures etc, but I'd be surprised if they were allowed to make such a fundamental change to the rules of play themselves.

Hungary another country being run by a tyrant. They do what they want, don’t they?

I like the idea of the game reduced to an endless series of penalties. These tin pot dictators want to be feared and sometimes ridiculing them is as effective as anything else.

On a completely irrelevant note, one of my neighbors is Hungarian and her grandfather played professionally in Hungary. Boy can she shift some vodka to lol......

IMHO no room in football for politics, we all know about the racial and religious problems! are they no enough without bringing politics into the game as well.

The country is well known for its years of racism.

Never saw that result coming, relegation threatened Debrecen beat table toppers Fradi in 381 goal thriller

Hungary is currently run by an anti EU national socialist party, they rule with an iron fist and I would imagine their football authorities will be under severe pressure to crack down on any non confirming decent.

The 1930s are repeating themselves folks, the world's going to the dogs.

He is. He’s actually had an ok career the last few years. A lot better than I’d have expected anyway.

Everything's political ( Bob Marley & Plato) including football, it doesn't and shouldn't exist in a vacuum. IMHO of course. Doesn't mean i think much about politics when I'm watching Hibs, my heart is usually of more concern but things like Colin Kaepernick kneeling, that's politics & it's powerful, which is why people like Trump don't like it.
When the Liverpool team all knelt they were feeding into something very political, and very powerful. Football can and should play its part.
Just gone through my soap box, all that lockdown weight so I'll stop.

You cant just change the laws of the game.

I cant help think that this has been misinterpreted or it’s one persons view of what should happen rather than what will happen.

Agreed.

While we all agree that the government in Hungary is a bit weird, I'd rather wait and see if anybody really said this before making a (genuine) response.

So close, I went for more than 381 goals. Was a great price too

:agree:

In fact, trying to exclude politics from football is in itself a political act.

Shady politicians rely on the fact that most people aren’t playing the game and don’t know the rules, let alone know how to win.

I regard this as being about basic human rights and decency rather than being political.

So I'm fine about Hibs tweeting their support earlier.

Me as well. I don't think Hibs or our support for that matter should attach our colours to any particular political mast. I'm a huge independence supporter, but I wont get involved with 'Hibs fans for independence' because of that .. though I do give their FB posts a like from time to time.

However .... Some things transcend politics and as you say just come into the realms of 'basic human decency' ..... this is one of those times and frankly I would be disappointed if every club doesn't tweet their support or demonstrate it in some other fashion, never mind the one I follow.
