A car has never turned a wheel for 6 months, it is parked in the car park at my work and has been Sorned. Does anyone know of any way to legally find the details of the owner?

I’ve done this by writing to the DVLA saying that the car has been dumped and is blocking access.

I think you can go into the DVLA website and as long as you have the reg you can get the details

If it's the site I think you're meaning then it just tells you the tax and MOT status of the car along with some vehicle information. It doesn't tell you about the owner.

No you can’t do that only tax and MOT status, imagine the issues that could cause if possible.

I reported a car as abandoned to the council, they came and put a reported abandoned notice on it and it moved very quickly.

If it has been SORNED as stated then I don’t think they can class it as abandoned or remove it.

Also take into account the registered keeper of the vehicle is not necessarily the owner. If it's sorned and has the land owners permission I wouldn't think there's much you could do.

Years ago my mate had a car abandoned right outside his house. Council were dragging their heels removing it.
Wasn’t until some of the windows were put in that it turned into a hazard and they came and collected the car within a matter of days.

No they’ll pop anyway when he sets fire to it.

No they’ll pop anyway when he sets fire to it.You can take the boy out of Liverpool.... [emoji23]
Run it via the DVLA and eventually they'll remove it if they can. If it's on private land then it's more awkward.

Depending how far it is from the public highway, you could possibly drag it out the car park? The Council/Police will soon take it away!

The Council/Police will soon take it away!I know someone who did exactly that, apparently they used a trolly jack to lift one end (it was an automatic). Was difficult at the lowered kerb but we... Err they, just bounced it round in a half circle till it was neatly parked on the double yellows. 3 weeks later it was gone.
Re getting details, I belive you can apply to the DVLA but have to have a 'legitimate requirement' for the info, same way private parking companies get your info.

I would never advocate criminal damage.

If it is in a car park owned /controlled by your employer would they not have details of the owner if they work there?

They don’t work there hence the reason we are trying to find out.

In which case get a scrappy to take it away as it has been dumped /abandoned and the owner has trespassed on company property. 😉

Is that not theft?

I don't even know if scrappies still take cars away, but definitely not without the registration documents.
I think your employer has just cause to get it removed. DVLA to get the keeper details, then write to them with a deadline for them to remove the car, then it's likely to be court action.
