Looks very likely.

N.I. would still have to pay comp, if he’s under contract

Worked miracles there. Think he's achieved all he can at that club. Always felt it's been snobbery that a bigger club hasn't poached him.

Arguably the best manager in St Johnstone's history?

May have been a mutual parting of ways as relations have been strained recently.

Looks very likely.

More likely to just happen to end up at Gorgie in the next week or two recommended by O’Neil/Levein.

He was tagged as a dinosaur. Maybe he is but he done a fantastic job there. Won them the only major honour in their history and they never really looked in any danger of going down.

I always quite liked him. He was gruff and he seemed to upset a lot of our fans for giving a bit back when he was abused but his teams played some decent stuff at times and he said what he felt.

Few rumours flying about that one club in the meeting yesterday said they need money fast and admin is a possibility. Wonder if it was them.

Wonder who the next manager will be. They always seem to promote from within so probably the same. If not would be a decent club for Stubbs although I think he'd struggle to get it now.

Callum Davidson if they can get him from Millwall?

A good fit for someone like St Johnstone. Good at organising a team and having them punching above their weight. Not sure he could translate those skills further up the footballing tree. His skills might be suited to N Ireland though who have done well at being organised and a team greater than the sum of their parts.

Possibly the most Hearts manager ever.

Would be surprised if it was St Johnstone - I’d see them as one of the more resilient clubs at this time, simply because gate money probably makes up a far smaller percentage of their income than most, given they have for years had some pitiful attendances.

Willie Ormond?

He never won anything with them. Tommy Wright's undoubtedly St Johnstone's best ever manager.

To have won the Scottish Cup with a club the size of St Johnstone is incredible and probably won't be repeated for a very long time.

He did well to win the Scottish, qualification for Europe, built decent teams with a tiny budget and brought through some decent young players. Fair play.

If Hearts had got Wright in instead of Cathro or Levein or Stendel they wouldn't be in the situation they're in now.

Would have been a brilliant appointment for them but I don't think he'd have stood for the nonsense behind the scenes.

Hmm I’m not sure.

I mean, we are one of those bigger clubs that might have poached him but I’m glad we didn’t. I’m just not convinced his style would have worked at a club with a bigger staff and expectation to play more expansive football.

But he did a wonderful job in Perth and I think he will do well for NI, where every game is a scrap for points.

Their owner/chairman came out before shut down saying they were struggling and running at massive losses for first time in years. Think he also said their wage budget is the 6th highest in the league. Was around about the time he came out to defend giving rangers and celtic the 3 stands. Their struggling big time.
