View Full Version : Official Site: HIBERNIAN FC PROUD TO ANNOUNCE NHS THANK YOU
Is it going to be on all three kits?

I don't see it.
It says "Thank you NHS" - that's not any of the 4 NHS logos, it's just a message.
Yep, I'm as a proud a Scot as anybody but this stuff about separate logos and health services is utter nonsense.
This is about giving a shout out to those in the NHS, no matter where they are, for what they're doing for the population in very difficult times.

I didn't either, but obviously some did see it and would have preferred it to be the Scottish logo.
It would still say the same thing, either way, so why not have the Scottish version?
Because they can't. It's been mentioned swveral times it's not the Scottish or English logo it's Hibs take on the NHS logo

It sounds like it's still selling well anyway which is the main thing. :aok:

The English/Scottish logos thing is ridiculous. It's neither. It simply says thank you NHS - which is what 99% of the country are feeling right now. Great move by Hibs, some folk will just go out of their way to pick at anything. Saw some comment on twitter last night from a supposed Hibs 'fan' moaning that it somehow was just a way for the club to fleece fans of more money and make themselves look good by donating fans money in Hibs name. Seriously get a life. In fact maybe just GTF. Some folk will complain about literally anything.

I wish all the Pedantic Petes and Look-At-Me Lauras would just give it a rest.
Agree sounds very yammish to be moaning about something so trivial it is a simple message which coveys how the club feels. Just imagine if they had put nhs Scotland can you just imagine the outcry. It is to all the NHS wherever they are.

FFS just what is the part that people don’t understand, the NHS logo for either country (Scotland or England) CANNOT be used for commercial purposes, so Hibs have just came up with the initials NHS in no particular way or affiliation.
It is just our clubs way of saying Thank You.

Meanwhile on Kickback the straw clutching has been outstanding, even by their own standards.
They’re suggesting that of the £5 we pay, Hibs could keep £4.99 and only give 1p to the charities!
And of course the only reason we are doing it is to sell more strips.
Guess they’re just gutted that they didn’t come up with it :na na:

Can we please stop all the nonsense about the logo. It’s a message of support to the NHS, I think too many are forgetting the number of Hibs fans and their families that may live elsewhere in the U.K. We should be celebrating the fact our club has yet again shown it’s class

My son's 14 y/o but there doesn't seem to be Replica kit in his size. Last year he was an XL junior (small senior). Anyone know why there seems to be a gap in sizes from junior to adult, as far as i can see on the website?

Are you sure it was last year and not longer ago? That sounds like the Nike sizing to me. As far as I remember the Macron shirts have always just gone from something like 3XS up to 6XL, with S being the largest junior size and M the first adult size.
You can see that last year's shirt had that sizing: https://www.hiberniandirect.co.uk/replica/home-replica/19-20-home-jersey-ss-jnr

Same here mate, my youngest has outgrown the kids sizes but there's no adult small size. Macron don't do them apparently. Adult medium will be way too big.

It was last season's strip - i'm looking at it right now.
I can see from the link above it has the exact same sizes as this year's but I bought the top in the shop and it clearly says XL Junior on the label.
I tried calling the shop, in case their number was forwarded and still being manned but there's no answer.

They do erm do them, as my son has one from last season that he bought in the shop. It's just that it isn't shown for whatever reason on the website, which is strange. In saying that there was only 1 or 2 left in that size in the shop when he got his and it wasn't long after they went on sale so i dont think they make many.

For anyone asking, the sizes work as below.
'Junior' sizes are 3XS, XXS, XS, S
'Adult' sizes are M, L, XL, XXL and so on
They used to work differently last season as someone mentioned. An XL juniors from last season is the equivelant to a Small this season.

I don't think it is actually "in stock" yet - it's open for pre orders, I believe dispatch is sometime in July.
I suppose the total number of pre orders will feed into how much is actually ordered (and re-ordered).
I tend to go small for football tops and tshirts in general, took a punt on the long sleeved medium.
Worst case i'll hand it back.

Yet there is no 'small' mentioned on the website which was the point I was making. Even if there was a small there's still a gap between junior and adults.
That small junior size is for 11-12 y/o's.

I just checked with the Hibs shop and mcohibs is correct. The Macron size guides are misleading though in stating the age. If you go by the chest sizes alone it all add's up.

None of the shirts will have the sponsor on them. You pay £47 for the shirt which has the badge and the Macron logo on it. You then have the option to donate an extra £5 to the NHS to get the NHS logo on the front.

It would still say the same thing, either way, so why not have the Scottish version?Don't think what you see will be the EXACT copy of what it will really be like. It's a very similar impression to what to expect. The logo font may well look different on the version in the shop. I don't care either what version the logo is. Makes zero difference. The logic of "supporting the NHS across the UK" - which I heartily subscribe to, before anyone gets excited - doesn't stand up if we use the English NHS logo though, does it?
It doesn't need to be the Scottish logo, but if not then let's just use a generic logo.

I think the problem is that the difference between logos you're describing is literally just usage of italics. It's not like there's a particularly distinct visual identity to the NHS in Scotland and it makes sense to pay respect to workers across the UK - if nothing else 'thank you NHS Scotland' is unwieldy and parochial. If you're going to keep the wording the same then it boils down to a choice between italics and plain text and italics look better - which I think is the real reason for it.
Also, outside of .net and whoever does the marketing for NHS Scotland, I really don't think people are going to care :dunno:

For information:
Anybody with clubstore vouchers. Had a reply from Hibs today, vouchers can't be used on line to order the new strip .. which is a bit of a bugger seeing as how I have £80 worth of the buggers. It is what it is, but I cant pretend I'm happy about it .. have to wait until the shop opens again I suppose ..... whenever that might be.

I don't honestly know mate. But when you consider that by virtue of the fact that Hibs already have the money paid when the vouchers were bought you would have thought the ability to use them online should be accommodated by the club. Not much use in buying them as a present for a relative or whatever who lives outside of Scotland .. or even the Edinburgh area .. if you actually have to go into the shop to use them.
Not a problem for me under normal circumstances of course ... but now I'm sitting with £80 I want to use to order the new strip and I cant

The NHS logo is white font on a blue block so is very different to what Hibs are doing. Just so this doesn't need to run and run here is the definitive guide to the NHS England logo...
NHS England logo guidelines (https://www.england.nhs.uk/nhsidentity/identity-guidelines/nhs-logo/)
23244
Seeing what the club has said on social media, it seems like we weren’t allowed to use the NHS Scotland logo, for whatever reason, maybe they didn’t want to or weren’t able to allow one club to use it ahead of any others etc.
So the club’s designer has gone off and made their own version of the NHS logo in a way that’s still recognisable to most people as looking ‘legit’ - maybe there are less usage restrictions around the English logo, maybe the Scottish one wanted to make sure what we did couldn’t be construed as being any sort of use of their logo or anything like it?
Ultimately, it doesn’t really matter, what we’ve done seems to be working as being recognisable as being what it says, I’m assuming the local NHS partners gave the design their blessing, we get to contribute to a worthy cause and the club gets some good PR too.

Have found previously that if you call them up the clubstore can take the code off your voucher and process it that way - of course I very much doubt you'll manage to get anyone to handle that until the thing is staffed again :dunno:

Don’t do that! The last time I asked a 14 year old to send me a picture of herself it turned out she was in the police! Imagine that, 14 years old and in the police, I always thought they were getting younger but that just confirmed it. [emoji51]

Sorry if it has been covered already, but if you don’t get the NHS logo ( I would give a donation to the charity) would the Hibernian community foundation logo replace it? Reason I ask is my dad has always wanted a Hibs replica kit since the early 1970s without a sponsor on it. Cheers

Not sure - on the front page of the clubstore it states pretty unambiguously that all orders will be held on record and dispatched when staff return. I would think it'll be some weeks at the minimum before they start posting things out but I suppose it's not impossible they could get some staff in just for online orders. Ordered this season's away top on the day the new strip came out so I'll let you know if it comes anytime soon

Now follows an unhinged rant, I apologise in advance.
My mum is a nurse on a Covid-19 ward in Wales, on the front line day in day out putting herself at risk and my sister is working Pharmaceutical support in the same hospital. So right now, anyone whining that the NHS logo is "too English" can quite frankly put themselves in the bin.
This is magnificent from Hibs but there's a small minority who will either always find a fault with something Hibs do or (and this is worse) use this as a weapon in their own political war. Enough. As so many other posters have said, there isn't even any NHS logo on this shirt it just says "Thank you NHS". Even if it was the "English" NHS logo, so people really think in terms of "English" and "Scottish" NHS, unless you're discussing politics?
Absolutely scunnered with the state of some people. When this is all over and life is back to normal all the "Nats" and "Yoons" can carry on at each others throats. This is not the time. Pack it in.

Especially when what is proposed for our strips isn't even an NHS logo (English or Scottish), but simple text.

Of course it would be brilliant being able to wear this new shirt asap but I'm not that fussed when it arrives. I'm just happy that Hibs are ahead of the game on the sentiment and of course great publicity for the club too.

That's no longer the case (at least online) – you can currently only buy tops with the NHS logo applied. My guess is it was more efficient to get them done in bulk rather than doing them individually depending on the order.
