I think I actually hate these bunch of vain, self obsessed student *******s more than I hate the Tories. With a hefty amount of their supporters having done their part on calling anyone to the right of Karl Marx a racist or a Tory and in turn subjected us to another five years of the ****ing Tories, they've already turned their focus on Starmer. Their Twitter message would sound more plausible if they replaced "Keir" with "Boris". Madness.

In this new era Momentum will play a new role. We’ll hold Keir to account and make sure he keeps his promises, champion big ideas like the Green New Deal, build the power of Labour members and do everything we can to get a Labour government elected.

If there was a newspaper expose tomorrow that said "This was a Tory funded idea" (I know it's not, but you catch my drift), my question is, would anyone actually be surprised?

Yep, same here.

Its a perfect opportunity for them to **** right off and set up their own party where they can get together with like minded folk and play at utopian games and impress each other with theory.

Aye because every member of Momentum is a student.

They are, by the nature of being a Momentum member, deluded though.

They are Dominic Cummings most useful bunch of idiots and they can't see it.

I definitely exclude the student part from my observations.

They waited a long time to get control of the party and they’re in the throes of seeing it all crumble. A bit of a tantrum is to be expected.

Interesting that support for Kier was highest amongst Registered Supporters at around 79%.

It was lowest amongst affiliates (Trade Unionists) but that was 53% although I’ve spoken to quite a few affiliates that never got their vote.

Momentum are essentially a pressure group or a platform to influence. Their outlook is limited to preaching to the converted. The similarity between them and Jeremy Corbyn is that they get the little things right and the big things wrong. I don't disagree with everything that they espouse and I equally don't agree with everything and therein lies the problem. It's all or nothing with Momentum. I voted for Starmer but I would be equally happy, if Dennis Skinner was still sitiing behind him in his usual end of the row seat.

I don't have any issue with a grassroots movement holding party leadership to account. In fact it should be positively encouraged.

The issues with Momentum are multiple though. In essence it was conceived as an idea to grow and evolve the Labour membership and to create an environment in which bottom up, creative politics could flourish. No problem there and it could be argued it was initially successful. It put left wing policy back on the table within the party and in 2017 the back to basics, get on the phone and knock the doors approach delivered relative electoral success.

The major problem is Momentum has 2 faces. There is the ideals mentioned above and then there is the attack dogs that were used to shield Corbyn and attempt to eliminate dissent and opposition. Any political party needs a range of views and opinions and when you start to purge those who disagree with you a situation arises in which you only hear and see what you want to. Momentum and Corbyn became inextricably bound. There was a split fairly early on within Momentum regarding voting structure, sure as night followed day a whole load of statements were released about 'steering groups', 'machine politics' and 'internal coups'. It just screamed student union politicos self destructing and fairly or unfairly Corbyn was tagged and being part of that. The ill thought out plan to oust Watson, whatever your views on him, was the 'highlight' and Momentum thew Corbyn under a bus. He simply couldn't win from the position he was put in.

Momentum could be a huge asset to the Labour Party. Keir Starmer isn't a million miles removed from their way of thinking. However ntil they recognise the value of flexibility and compromise they will remain the biggest obstacle to Labour becoming an electoral force.

Calling them students as if it was an insult is beyond a joke.

I don't like them one bit either.
