What a day that was. Hibs were magnificent although only started to relax and enjoy it at 4-1!

Just watched the highlights from it and forgot how good we were, could have scored a lot more. First time seeing us win a trophy live and a day I'll never forget.

We had every season that day Hail Sleet Sunshine and Snow and it Rained goals

Did not expect that result walking up to the Stadium but looking back on the line up what a team we had: Broony Fletcher Murphy and a young Whitts to name but a few

Happy memories

I was a nervous wreck when they scored to make it 3-1.... I think we all were.

:greengrin

What a day, though. Snowing throughout the match then the best ever rendition* of Sunshine On Leith at the end.

* Somewhat controversial, I know, but it was the first time it had ever been sung by such a large number of people at such a high profile event. It even warranted a four page article in a famous German Sports Magazine.

Lewie got man of the Match but, for me it was Benji. He also got us through a hard fought semi at Tynie with a goal that eased the nerves somewhat.

Totally agree. Still remains the largest support to ever sing it in unison. I was blubbering I must admit. Special moment. Collins tears added to it. Got to say the BBC nailed the coverage.

Flew in from Spain for it. Weather had been great over there and I had just had a very short, short haircut. Thank the lord for the vendors who sold me a nice hat with a harp on it. Great day from start to finish. My first winning final. I started going to Hampden in 1974 (3-6 game v Celtic), this was my sixth final. We got the result and had a day that I’ll never forget.

Nervous at 3-1 too. Was unemployed at the time. Saved up off my broo money to take me and the youngest son. Made egg pieces to keep us going. On way back home down Leith walk he found a tenner and treated me to kebab.

I remember being emotional at full time. 2004 really, really hurt so to win it so emphatically three years later was just brilliant. I was too young to go in 1991. I was beginning to think I'd never see us win anything.

Still the most relaxed I've been at a Hibs final. Weird day weather wise, top Hibs team that fully deserved the cup. Some great players in that team.

Fantastic day, enjoyed with extended family. Benjelloun’s feet and movement that day was something else - Hibs second goal especially.

Loved this day.
Still believe that that team could have made it a Double 07 too, with a beatable Celtic team in the SC Final had we turned up v the Pars in the semi.
But what's for you doesnt go by you & I have great memories of March 2007 & May 2016!

I knew instinctively that Rob Jones would score as soon as David Murphy took the corner and was on my feet celebrating before the ball hit the net. The big guy timed his run perfectly.
Agree, Benji man of the match for me. His goal to make it 2-0 was outstanding. Turned the Killie defender inside out. Brilliant day.

Some went in to have really good careers. Boozy would have been another had it not been for injuries. Brilliant player.

Easily the best Sunshine on Leith, element of surprise in actually getting to sing it made it more emotional somehow.

Brown missed a sitter and Benji hit the post as well, could have been seven quite easily.

Day ever so slightly tempered by a parade bus intent on bombing down the Mound at 20mph.

A close second to the rendition of Sunshine on Leith was the non stop "Cheer up Jimmy Jefferies" chant from 35k Hibs fans.

He must have though the 6-2 was the worst it could be..

Even after the fourth goal I’m thinking “This is Hibs we could still **** this up.”

That's the moment I finally started to relax as i was thinking the same. Killie were a decent side and had mounted some pressure just prior to it.

What a day it was though. Especially as my son was with me his first taste of Hibs winning a trophy, which made it even sweeter.

Hampden in the snow.

Brilliant performance.

Still the best rendition of Sunshine on Leith IMO.

The BBC coverage and interview with JC and the players at FT is fantastic.

My god 13 years, what a day.

I lost my father the year before. This was the first final I attended without him. When SOL started, I blubbed like a big bairn. Old guy next to me pulled my sleeve and asked if I was OK. I could hardly speak. Must have thought I was a complete idiot.

Watched the highlights recently too - boy, was that team on fire!!

Special word for JJ, you were there for 0-7 and 6-2 and this as well. Hibs legend!!!

I remember going absolutely skitzo as Rob Jones and David Murphy weren’t on the pitch when the second half started. Big Rob told me at the captains dinner a couple of years back that they were both spending a penny. The whole of the left side of our defence was just not there!!!

What a day though! Went for the hospitality option as well which made it extra special

This might be controversial but I think I actually enjoyed the CIS Cup win more, on the day, than the Scottish Cup.

There just seemed a bit less pressure and I was pretty relaxed all day. Enjoyed the pre match beers, enjoyed the game, straight to the parade in the evening then drank the night away. For the SC I was so wound up all day and just drained by the evening. Obviously as a complete weekend the SC was better but the CIS win was the first time I watched Hibs win a trophy and I was old enough to really understand it meant.

Not controversial at all. In fact exactly the same for me.

Moreover, there was a certain degree of confidence in that team and Collins. They delivered big time. But it didn't surprise us.

I was freezing that day though, didnt travel back with a warm jacket. Anyway, superb day from early to late 👍

I flew to SF the day after our 1991 win. No sleep at all so was hoping to catch up on the flight. 40 minutes in I heard the guy behind me talking about the game. I turned round & he was wearing a Hibs top so that was that!!

Yes my tears started at 3-0. Was in the south near the front with youngest one. Lots of fathers in tears around me with their children hugging them. We had seen Hibs win something and many thought it might be the last time in our lives we would witness it. But then came 2016.

Yip. I had the 4-4 at Tynecastle etched in my memory. Being 2-4 up in the 87th minute and still end up drawing.

Fully relaxed at 5-1, also took a henna over the seat and rolled my ankle.

What a day. Back to the Harp and Castle for celebrations, the parade that night. JC at the front of the bus shouting “FIVE” over and over again.

Said to my Dad, imagine what it will be like when we win the Scottish Cup.

Never found out, as I missed 2016.

I did a video blog which I will need to stitch together and turn into an actual film. Still makes me smile watching it.

Magnificent day. Less so on the drive home when my windscreen wiper came off in the middle of a blizzard on the M6. Maybe wasn't such a bright idea to drive an N-reg Fiesta to Glasgow and back, only 3 months after passing my driving test. Worth it though, especially as *JCL alert* 2004 was my first final (first Hibs game in Scotland, in fact).

Saturday night we went to see The Fall in the Renfrew Ferry then stayed over at my friends flat in Pollockshaws leaving a shortish walk to Hampden the next day. Caught a one way trip back to Peebles on the local supporters bus but alarm bells were ringing when they said it was just straight home to Peebles, so had to persuade a detour to let those of us off who were wanting to celebrate and enjoy the parade. The open top bus got down Leith Walk at about 30mph quicker than the ‘16 Scottish Cupper 🚌 💨 💨

It was my last day in Iraq - the Gurkhas I had been working with had bought (and slaughtered) a goat from a local farmer and cooked it in my honour. Although we had a bespoke satellite link that gave a good reception I missed the game as I did not want to offend them by leaving them to watch "just" a Football game! Ironically, there was a Jambo civilian in our company who kept updating me with the score. Bizarre but true!!
