View Full Version : Not going tomorrow

Irish_Steve

I`ve decided that I`m not going to the match tomorrow. And before anyone labels me a drama queen, my brother works in the medical services and has strongly suggested that I don`t go.

I`m not really concerned about contracting the virus (as I`m a fit 53 yr old) but more concerned about passing it on. I do think things are going to get "worse" before they get better.

I`ll spend Saturday hunting bog roll

Get to ER early, nick all the bog roll then watch the game.

Win, win. Unless we draw or lose obviously.

Maybe we should have a generic thread about not going back until things get better and perhaps a poll for the reason. Maybe COVID-19 will beat , Petrie, Catering, Seagulls and the lack of DM to replace Barts.

In all seriousness, if the OP is giving up the Saturday fix because of potential risks to someone else's welfare, that is the proper thing to do.

I'm not going tomorrow either and I'm taking a financial hit by avoiding it.

I have a match ticket and my train is booked, but that money is spent so I'm really only missing out on an hour and a half of watching football.

I was in two minds, but my mate who I was supposed to be staying with, is in bed with "flu-like symptoms" so I'm steering clear.

If you want, I'll give you his address and you can pop round to visit him.

I think if your fit and healthy, dont live with anybody with underlying heath conditions and protect yourself with handwashing, knowing theres a chance your gonna get it at some point whether it be at the local tesco or at the game then you should go.

See, the bit I'm just not getting is that if it was that serious why is there not a ban now. Some clarity to avoid these disputes would be nice.

I'm genuinely in two minds now over tomorrow but edging towards going.

There are a certain number of confirmed cases. The number of actual cases is likely to be much higher, although as of now neither are all that high. Whilst case numbers are small, the economic damage that can result from drastic measures aren’t worth taking the action, as that action - right now - will likely have little impact.

Over the next few days, the number of expected cases will go beyond a “tipping point” and drastic measures will be justified. That has probably been calculated to be around Sunday / Monday in the UK.

If you wish to stay away - and many people will - then that is your call and nobody can really be harmed by that.

It sounds crass as if it’s all about money, greed and political posturing but it isn’t. Obviously the greatest concerns right now are death, death of loved ones, pain and suffering. But people also have livelihoods to protect etc so prolonging normality has its place too.

It’s tough for those charged with making decisions - I speak as someone who might have to voluntarily close a business for a greater good knowing that my livelihood and the jobs of several others might be wiped out as a result.

Because it's potentially more dangerous to go on lock down now before the virus has hit it's prime in several weeks time.
As chief medic said there's as much chance as catching it in a room with 5 people in a house rather than a football match outside.

You need food to live so shopping is essential. Football isn't no matter what Shankley may have said.

If you've got an alcohol wipe, I'd clean the trolley handle before you shop and scrub your hands straight after, in the shop toilets if you can.

Keep clear of anyone coughing or sneezing and you'l have minimised the risk.

I’m still going, going to stand outside the ground with my Hibs scarf singing glory glory for ninety minutes.

I might join you and boo and shout about Stevenson.

Really irresponsible. As was Sevco playing in front of a packed Ibrox last night against a club from Germany's worst affect area.

I've decided not to go tomorrow either.

Just not worth the risk.

I think that all of us who have decided not to go should meet up and shake hands for making such a sensible decision lol

I think I am going to go along tomorrow at 3pm and indulge in a spot of solo clapping outside the West Stand.

No idea why they are making the trip just for a game of football, but I'm hearing MK Dons and AFC Wimbledon are playing a bounce game at ER tomorrow?

I could join you if want pal?

We could chat about the record breaking season that's almost resulted in Liverpool winning their first title for 30 years? :greengrin

Despite your fears, Liverpool will be crowned Champions pal don’t worry about it.

You will meet your destiny taking the road to avoid it.

I love the latter but the expert knowledge of the former was pretty convincing.

****ed off with this already.
Hibs game cancelled Friday and yesterday tonights Jamali Maddix gig at The Stand.

Flip side is how to keep my elderly parents above ground.
This is going to be long and painful for all...............................other than ventilator and handwash makers.
