To move away from moaning about Hibs for a while......

The draw for the semi final was made at 6pm on Sunday. There are 2 games, 2 days and about 4 possible TV slots. Why are we now almost 3 full days down the line with no announcement of when the games will be played? It can't be rocket science. It's a nightmare of a weekend for those of us looking to organise buses and a lot of people are likely to have other plans they may need to rearrange.

There surely must have been a draft schedule drawn up prior to the draw? It's not like the dates haven't been known since a good while before the start of the season.

I’ve heard it’s 5.30pm on the Saturday but that could also be utter rubbish info [emoji23]

To be fair there are eight teams in a quarter final and so you’d be looking at creating (I think) 28 different scenarios and combinations. Not as easy a task to create a draft as some think.

It’s the semi finals we’re talking about mate. 2 games, 2 days, 4 possible tv slots.

Doesn’t seem a difficult task.

Obviously waiting on Rangers deciding if they want to play a league game that weekend.

Got to book flights up and down for the game so the sooner the better. Pathetic how long its taking to decide the start time of 2 football games on different days. :brickwall

When the draw was made,it should have been decided the first two teams out, were playing at 'X' time on the Saturday, and the other two were playing at 'X' time on the Sunday...no difficult...

It's due to monitoring of the coronavirus. If it becomes clear in the not too distant future that it's not going to be contained the semis (along with all major public events) will likely have to be rescheduled or even cancelled.

And if all major public events are not cancelled then the SFA have less time to organise them.

Organise them now and have a contingency plan IF they need to be postponed.

Absolutely nothing to do with coronavirus.

How many quarter finals do we play before it's the semi?

That may indeed well be the case - but some comms to indicate as much would be helpful and welcome.

It won't be a logistical issue for fans if we end up following Italy's move to play all major sports fixtures behind closed doors:

I would love that ..... but wow, it's a recipe for utter carnage, what sensible FA would agree to that for the 2nd most volatile match in Scottish football?

5:30 on the Saturday it is then

There was predicted carnage for the Final we’d rather forget a few years back, but those fears were unfounded. Fans were supposed to be segregated travelling to Glasgow by train with Hearts fans being asked to board at Haymarket and Hibs at Waverley with separate trains the idea, but completely ignored and fans just mixed in on same trains, mostly minding their own business in their own company and not making a nuisance of themselves.

Obviously the result, early exit of majority of Hibs fans and a cup presentation meant fans were isolated from each other for return trip, but that wouldn’t be the case as much for the semi, and a late KO probably won’t lend itself to peaceful train travel.

That said, as much as the rivalry between Hibs and Hearts is bitter, we are no Rangers and Celtic when it comes to how we conduct ourselves. A few loose cannons alright, but in the main we should be trusted to kick off at any time on a Saturday.

We should play the game at Tynecastle.

We have a 100% win record there this season...but a 100% defeat record on a larger pitch

There's a very real possibility it will be as the government moves on to stage 2 of the containment strategy, which can include cancelling large public events:

It is almost as if you are praying for a postponement, why?

The only fans at risk are those closest to the opposition fans, and it is more likely to be swine flu rather than Corona beer.

A Joint Response Group statement said, after discussions with the UK and Scottish Governments, there is “no rationale to close or cancel sporting events” at this time.
Ian Maxwell, Scottish FA chief executive, said: “Together with our colleagues at the SPFL, we have written to our members to underline that we will do everything possible to complete fixtures, whilst taking fully on board the Government’s expert advice and the guidance of our medical consultant, Dr John MacLean.
“We have also advised our clubs of the absolute necessity of following hygiene best practice at stadiums, training grounds and other premises, as well as providing information to staff, fans, contractors, broadcasters and other media entering club premises.”

Fabulous that might bring an end to ice cold water at ER to wash your hands
