Another option for the semi final and that final push for Europe. Good news.

Does it say too much about Mallans importance to the team, that I hadnt noticed he was missing?

Strengthens the bench as he continues his come back. One thing that Jack does well is gets the most out of players. Mallan has a clean slate under Ross and if he makes him better then it’s only positive news for us.

Mallan's a good player to have as an option from the bench, takes a mean free kick and corner and I'd have him on penalties.

Happy to have him coming off the bench last 20 mins for Allan. He will strengthen our side in that scenario as we don't have a like for like sub for Allan at the minute.

If he slots into the midfield starting line up ahead of Omeonga Docherty Allan Newell or even Slivka we're just asking for mediocrity again.

Impact player at best but a good one at that.

Excellent news. If we want our players to produce their best then surely its only common sense to offer encouragement rather than making negative comments.

Haste ye back Stevie.

I posted that he was in good nick at Alloa a couple of weeks back.
However, I was advised after much scrutiny that he has to do 6 weeks of dynamic twisting and turning yet, sort of like a dead ball-striking ersatz Chubby Checker.

Maybe Jack Ross can get the best out of him play him in his true position whatever that may be and he becomes like new signing for us

All good

Newell's corners have been better.

Mallan was magnificent last season. His confidence clearly took a bit of a hit earlier this season. I trust Ross to get the best out of him. Look at the transformation in other players under him.

That only helps if Newall is playing though. :greengrin

I was thinking on Friday that Stevie M will face a battle to get back into this team. Hopefully we won’t suffer anymore injuries this season.

Newall is much better at corners than mallan Newell is hopeless. The worst player ever to pull on the green and white. I read it on here on numerous occasions. Changed days.

Stevie brings his own skill set and gives us another midfield option in a busy period

Happy he is back

This for me. I'd like to see Mallan as part of a team/squad where confidence is high, under a manager who puts real trust in his attacking players.

Looking forward to getting him back.

We sat in west upper for United game for a change. He was sat next to Naismith during first half and practically kicked every ball. Just a little story but thought it showed he really cares for the progression of the team.

He is the obvious sub for Allan any time after half time. If he gets minutes in the role Allan has it wouldn't surprise me if he shuts up his doubters and gives Ross something to think about

He’s been very much missed imo. During Scott Allan’s recent poor spell, Mallan could have been drafted in to take the weight off him. We didn’t have that option.

I still think that was down to Hecks insistence on trying to shoehorn both him and Allan into the same starting lineup.

Indeed. The good old .net “heart of a mouse” label plastered on him by more than a few experts on here. Load of pish.

I'm pleased that Mallan will be back soon, although I'm not sure how he fits into the team other than as a substitute. Nice problem to have though.

I`d have him as high up the pitch as possible if he comes on - couldn`t tackle a fish supper. At least if he loses the ball high up the field we will have a chance of getting it back.

That’s good to hear, still think we sometimes miss the passion that players like Fontaine and Bartley clearly were infected with when they came to the club under Stubbs.

Did his previous stint with JR as his boss not end up with him playing the best football of his career and getting him his big move down south?

He was magnificent for about the first 2 months. He was poor to average afterwards.

13 goals from 48 appearances

Won the Player of the Year last year and even more importantly won the players player of the year award so a lot of people better qualified than you or I to judge would argue that he was better than poor to average last season 🤣
