Tomorrow.

We're one of the second seeds due to restructuring and could potentially get Wales and one of Ireland/NI.

I'm not sure if the pots for pool B teams actually relate to seeding. There's no way we're seeded higher than Turkey who have qualified for the last 4 major tournaments.
All the same I'm interested in it and plan to take my kids along to a game or 2.
If they do a decent 3 game package I might even go to them all.

It is based purely on the last Nations League standings - nothing to do with qualifying for other tournaments.

Scotland were in pot 3 and won their mini group against Israel & Albania so were promoted to pot 2.

Turkey were in pot 2 last time but came bottom of their group against Sweden & Russia so were relegated to pot 3.

I like the Nations League idea, partly as I think it'll be a precursor to doing away with all international football outwith the summer months, which is what I think should happen.

I think it's far from being perfect though and the details of how it works for the World Cup cycle have confirmed one of my early concerns about it. Specifically, unless you're a country capable of winning a League A or League B group, what is your motivation for winning games in this version of the NL?

Good wee summary courtesy of the Edinburgh Tartan Army.......

The draw for the 2020/21 Nations League group stage takes place on Tuesday 3rd March at 5pm (GMT) in Amsterdam. ETA are planning a meet up in Footlights Bar, 7 Spittal St, Edinburgh EH3 9DY. Meeting from 4pm, it is also the Edinburgh derby that night (7.45pm kick off) and those not going to the game can stay on to watch it on the TV together. All members and friends are welcome to join us.

Scotland are in Pot 2 of League B and will find out the 3 teams we will face in September, October and November this year. The seedings for League B and Scotland’s potential opponents are:

Pot 1: Russia, Austria, Wales, Czech Republic
Pot 2: Scotland, Norway, Serbia, Finland
Pot 3: Slovakia, Turkey, Republic of Ireland, Northern Ireland
Pot 4: Bulgaria, Israel, Hungary, Romania

Group winners will be promoted to League A for the next Nations League and will guarantee 2nd seed for the World Cup qualifiers. It could also lead to a play off place for the World Cup in Qatar. 2nd and 3rd will remain in League B and secure a 3rd seeding for qualification. Bottom of the the group will be relegated to League C and could drop into 4th seed. Winners from League A will compete for Nations League title in the Summer of 2021.

Fixtures are normally announced after the draw, UEFA have not confirmed if this will be announce on Tuesday evening or Wednesday morning.

Is this on tv?

Finishing work early to get home in time for some pre-match beers before the derby.

Big derby rivalry there between the Czechs and Slovaks, how that may help or hinder us I don't know.

It’s home and away against everyone, think it covers the 6 games in Sept/Oct/Nov this year

Need Levein to give Clarke some tactical masterclass lessons before we play them....who needs strikers anyway?

Is it possible we want to get relegated?

There is a school of thought that relegation this year followed by promotion the following year, repeated would be the best way to get at least the play-offs each other Nations League. However, I believe we could literally finish anywhere in this group. Win it and even if we then lose every match in the next Nations League Group A, we would still be guaranteed a play-off.

Anyway, a decent group to qualify from, could have been much worse. Not the best for trips but all flights booked none the less. Bring it on!
