I remember many moons ago being at a quiz night at Easter Road, and one of the questions related to Hibs playing two matches on the same day! Thats all I can remember, but any info as to why, and when and who against would be greatly appreciated.

Don’t know the answer but I think Andy G played in both

Fairly recently (within 10 years maybe) we played QOS and Ayr in first team pre season friendlies same day.

In the late 70s there was the Skol Tournament where Hibs played Hearts at ER immediately followed bay Man City vs Coventry. So not 2 Hibs games, but 2 matches at ER on the same day.

Think that was the Mowbray era. He took a team to QOS and Venus took a team to Ayr. Both equal strength squads IIRC.

I was at the Ayr game. Think Lewy may have played one of his earliest games for us that day

Thanks, but pretty sure it was long, long time ago, probably before you and I were born

6th nov 1880, played the Newcastle Tyne Assoc and Rangers on the same day (one at home, one away) - lost 1-5 to rangers, beat Newcastle 3-0

Thanks James, I would never have found that on my own!

As luck would have it, i was looking through Making of Hibernian 1 earlier today, and had noticed it.

Credit of course goes to Lugton.
