Difficult conditions, away from home, plastic pitch against a good team with good players in good form. Moves us within five points of third.

A little annoyed by a midfielder not carrying out their defensive duties again to make it more difficult for us, but you have to say that is a really important victory.

The question is Hibbys - can we finish third?

Really is a superb result, the kind we simply couldn't have hoped to get earlier in the season.

Thought Doidge showed a lot more to his game today. He didn't score, but his use of possession was top notch and he got stuck in defensively.

Brilliant from Hanlon, Docherty, Ofir and Jackson.

Thought we were well worth the first half lead...second half we dug in and got the result.

Either way a huge 3 points that probably will make the difference between top n bottom 6.

And quite simply means onwards and upwards!!

We have put ourselves right in the hunt for Europe now. 2 must win games this week, both negotiated well.

I said in December we had no chance of Europe, I'm starting to be quite hopeful I was wrong.

The results this weekend have worked in our favour. Remote chance of third but it's still a chance.

I think we struggled a bit in the second half without Newell, so it's a big achievement that we still managed to hang on for the win. I seriously think we would have won by more if he hadn't been injured.

Ross took his time to look at the players and bring in what he wanted. He's now got the balance of the team spot on and they are playing with a lot of confidence all looking for the ball all over the park. The players who we all thought were mugs at the start of the season are now stalwarts.Shows what a good coach can do.

Of course players made individual mistakes but that’s the result of having to employ human beings! But everyone got the ball down and tried to pass the ball about on a difficult surface, never mind the weather. At least for an hour!

Hanlon and Jackson immense, Docherty’s goal was special. Even the refs incompetence couldn’t harm us though Jackson got away with it at the end

Great chance now for 3rd or 4th and in our own hands. Important to make up points of Aberdeen and Motherwell before the split and will be interesting to see how our fixtures are worked out. We will have played Aberdeen, Motherwell, Killie and Rangers away twice and only Cetic and Livi twice at home. We will be due 3 away and two home to even up our home and away games over the season.

16-02-2020, 06:18 PM
Brilliant win.

Horrible conditions, horrible pitch and they were chucking everything at us.

They put in a lot of very good crosses however didn’t actually trouble us much with actual shots, I can think of one Rocky made that was a good save.

Jackson was brilliant again imo, very strong in the air and looks like he genuinely enjoys defending.

I never thought the conditions etc would suit us but we battled very well and showed a lot of character.

Jack Ross just gets better every week for me, the change in formation was pivotal in the pressure easing a bit the last 5-10 minutes imo. Really looking forward to seeing what he can do after a full pre season and with his own players in.

To think how bad a start of season we had and now we’re 5 points behind Motherwell who are having a brilliant season? Ross deserves massive credit

Well done hibs, onwards and upwards - still plenty hard work to do

It really does. This time Stevenson is injured and we go 3-5-2 and it clicks. last time SDG got injured and Boyle can into a 3-5-2 and out of nowhere we were an excellent team. Both years the winter signings were what we needed.

Fantastic win. Difficult venue , on a crap plastic pitch that Kilmarnock know how to use to there advantage.
Horrendous conditions. Started of well with decent passing moves , cracking goal from Docherty. Lost a quick equaliser then Jackson showed great sharpness to turn and hit towards goal. 2- 1 deserved half time lead.
They were always going to come in to the game on there own patch where they have decent record against bigger teams. Every player did there bit. Rocky' s handling was excellent . Hanlon ( who I have been critical in the past) and Jackson were excellent. McGinn did a job, Docherty had another great game. Rest did their bit.
Mentioned on another thread that Boyle would get lumps kicked out of him before anybody gets booked, was proved right. If he played for either of the arse cheeks then players would booked lot earlier.

We looked in control and likely to score right up to the last twenty minutes or so when Killie threw the kitchen sink at us but came up against a resolute defence. Those three points make such a difference though - all of a sudden Europe seems like more than just a pipe dream!

How good was it to see the much maligned defence hold firm when the much anticipated second half onslaught came. JR has turned things around were in a good place right now Docherty has transformed the midield, McNulty and Doige are looking like a good parnership up front and to add to that were showing that we can see games out. All good in the hood.
