Returning to Scotland in the summer. Would you have him back?

I think he's a decent player but if the clubs aim is to finish 3rd next season then we need better.

I agree. I think he would be a great third choice striker right now behind Doidge and McNulty. His work rate is second to none and he actually banged in a lot of goals for us during his short spell.

:agree: Not the best i've ever seen, but scored at hunbrox and the winner against the gunts, he could score goals, and as a third choice striker he'd be better than most.

Can’t see them being happy selling Shankland then bringing in a guy that says playing for Dundee was a dream come true. Probably the Fermers if guessed. Another one who deserves good luck.

14 goals and 6 assists in 28 games for us is a great return for someone who probably wasn't a very high earner.

I’d definitely take him back as a back up striker. He scored goals and he worked hard during his time with us.

How did he get on with his current club?

Scored 5 goals in 21 games last season. They finished 3rd (5 points off top) behind Sundowns and Orlando Pirates.

I liked him.

He didn’t have a great pre-season after coming back from loan, the fans seemed on his back a bit and his head was down. He didn’t get a chance to play through his iffy bit of form.

With his pace and work-rate he’ll always offer something, and with a bit of experience I expected him to mature into a better player.

I would be happy to have him back tbh, and you could see him being good with Doidge.

Would have Murray back in a heartbeat, would be a great third striker and option if we secure MM in summer. Terrific attitude, work rate and would play off Doidge brilliantly and give defenders no peace (that partnership).

What would Simon Murray bring other than keeping Jamie Gullan from developing..it would be a No from me ...

I think he struggled with signing in the same window as Stokesy, was never going to be as big or glamorous a signing.

He worked hard, but he was just below the requisite standard Imo.

Not atrocious, but not quite good enough. Rather give Gullan the chance.

I'd have him in a shot. Worked his arse off. Kamberi should watch Simon Murray videos to learn how to be part of a club.

Plus, that song was great!

I may be making this up but I'm sure when he left there was a comment from Hibs about watching his future career closely/with interest or similar. I thought that was an odd thing to say at the time but maybe it was with a view to bringing him back if he shone elsewhere.

I liked Murray, he worked hard and moved fairly well, but he was a bit raw. At his age you can't imagine there is a huge amount of scope for improvement. For where we want to be I'm not convinced he is the answer as either starter or sqaud player.

No doubting his workrate which was top class but i never thought he really had the quality to go with it. His first touch was never his string point (to put it politely).

Hibs should be giving gullan a chance ahead of bringing murray back.

Like the guy and wouldn’t be against us signing him again as a decent squad player.

If he would be happy being 3rd choice he'd be a good option to have on the bench.

Plus we can start singing Good Charlotte again...

Would rather not, develop Gullan first.

Liked him but if we keep Sparky and develop Hammer he'd be 4th choice. I have a sneaky feeling that if Edinburgh City manage to get promoted he may land up there...on good wages, or at Livi

I'd take him back, he would improve the current squad. Not first choice but a brilliant rotation option. Can actually score penalties as well.

No. Other than running around a hell of a lot, he was distinctly mediocre against top flight opposition.

His goal v Rangers wasn't too bad either. That being said, 6 goals in 22 league matches isn't brilliant.

His goal against Hearts was anything but mediocre.

He started well but as soon as opposing teams figured out that his work rate and movement was what got him to Hibs, he had nothing else to trouble defenders.

His finishing was absolutely abysmal by and large. Couple of great goals but that's about it.

That's a good point.

The only question is whether Gullan would be ready for a run of starts if/when either Doidge or McNulty got injured.

In truth, that's an academic question because we've no option but to play him in that scenario other than to go one up.

Mind you, we did try to chuck money at Dunfermline to get Nisbet so that might be a clue as to Gullan's readiness.

I mean purely for the tune it gets the go ahead from me, girls don’t like boys girls like Simon murray. That being said though I would’ve be disappointed not delighted if we signed him, raw and patchy in terms of goals sure his goal v hearts was first in like 10 then he scored a few again

Subconscious or not, I think I judge youngsters on the golden generation. If someone isn’t a first team regular, or knocking on the door to be one, by 20-ish my automatic reaction is that they are very unlikely to ever make it as anymore than a bit part/squad player. Not very scientific, particularly as not seen much of Gullah to form an opinion, but my instinct is that he won’t make it at Hibs.

I’d take him. Offers us more speed and if we do lose Boyle ( though totally different positions ) then there are games were speed will keep the opposition defence pined back as they are scared of it.

As others have said if we want to aim for third we need better. However he offers a good option for us as I’d spend a large percentage trying to sort out our defence as ( in my opinion only ) this is our Achilles heel.

I quite liked him and he scored some important goals at Ibrox and in the derby. Wouldn’t be a starter for where we should be, but he’d be a useful option to have.

In a parallel universe Hibs are tearing up the europa league with a front three of Simon Murray, Brian Graham and James Keatings but unfortunately it ain’t this one.
