My Rangers supporting friend reported back last night as we were comparing our respective loan debutants. He said Rangers were lucky to escape with a point yesterday. They’re not firing on all cylinders at present so we should go through there with a positive mindset and feel we can hurt them

We've playing twice a week at the moment with last week's cup game, Sevco this week and Ross County next week so players will need a rest or rotated.

However I go with our strongest team at Ibrox and use next Sunday's cup game to rest Doidge and Boyle whilst giving game time to McNulty, Hallberg, Slivka and even James (possibly at left back).

We’re not good enough defensively to shut up shop. We can’t just let them have the ball and keep coming at us. If you’re a good runner you should be in the team for this game because we need to press them, chase them, kick them and whatever else it takes to stop them settling. Basically do the complete opposite to what we’ve done in the last two games when we’ve just let them stroll around doing what they want.

I'd try and use Whitts to help in front of the defense, give Boyle freedom with Hallberg or Whiits to cover across when he can't get back. Boyle and Newell encouraged to get as close to Doidge as they can when we have good possession.

Rangers ripped our diamond to shreds at Easter Road, with Tavernier & Barisic free to bomb up and down. Surely JR will take steps to counter that at Ibrox and I don’t think our 4-3-3 is up to it since Horgan doesn’t offer Stevenson enough protection but we seem reluctant to experiment with three central defenders.
Maybe two banks of four and Boyle with a free Road Runner role, putting out fires and trying to support Doidge?
Attitude and application may be more important than formations anyway.

Rangers appear to have lost their way after the break - Tavernier, Jack & Morelos missing some of those games has hit them hard. Hard to see them messing up two in a row at home but the longer we stay in it the more pressure builds on them. We can’t afford yet another sluggish start.

When buying BSC tickets this morning, I noticed that there is still tickets on sale for ibrox. Looks to be a fair few left in GW1 and GW3 with none available in GW2. Can’t sale I blame people. £32 a ticket before additional costs, coupled with BSC game it’s been an expensive few weeks. Hopefully we punt a few more before the game.

Any word on parking arrangements? Wasn’t sure with the reduced numbers of us travelling if that will affect arrangements that have been in place previously.

Where was Whittaker on Saturday seems odd he played in both cup ties then nowhere to be seen in the games in between. If no injury would definitely put him in for this game. Watched highlights of Rangers Dons and Cosgrove missed two huge chances so think could cause them some issues. Even with a smaller numbers travelling I expect the police will be keen to keep the Hibs fans within the traditional away car park. Always had it before when we weren’t selling out, so no reason to suspect anything different on Wednesday.

I'd start with Horgan on the left as I think we need his pace outwide to protect Stevenson, don't think his performance last week justifies it but we have no one else who could do that similar role. If Horgan wants a long term future at the club we'll need better starting performances from him.

I don't think it really matters what formation Ross puts out tonight. Hibs, as a team, just do not / cannot defend well in far too many matches. Our goals conceded tells us all we need to know. If Hibs are not giving teams a start of a goal (or two), they often cannot see a game out when they have the lead of a goal (or two).

In addition, given this is a "must win" game for Gerrard and Sevco, I cannot see anything other than a heavy defeat for Hibs tonight.

Hope I'm wrong. I live in hope.
