I didn’t realise our record against Dundee Utd was so close. Our recent win means we have won 72 times to their 71 wins (63 draws). Shows they have been a thorn in our side over the years!

be interesting to see our H2H with other teams to see how we compare.
At one stage IIRC Dunfermline hadn't beaten us at ER for 40 years - but we managed to remedy that for them in our bad spells...

Hibs - A conundrum wrapped up in a deep-fried enigma.

Is that the entire history of the clubs?

It mentioned that in the tv commentary for the first game.

Sure they said that at that point amazingly the head to head cup record was also tied: 15 played, 5 wins each and 5 draws.

The site seems to think we have a couple more wins over Dundee United due to a couple of games in obscure tournaments, but it's still very even.

I suspect that during the Jim McLean era results would be massively in favour of United.

United being good has often happened at the same time as us being bad.

Yup. The 1980's would have seriously changed things

We took some skelpings from them in the 1960s as well.

I recall several skelpings up at Tannadice in the 80s and 90s

Loved the cup semi at Tynie against them when Jackson scored, was behind the goals and it was bedlam.

I remember one game in the mid sixties when we were 4-0 down at ht. Down the slope we pulled it back to 4-3 and had a last gasp equaliser chalked off because the ref blew for time as the ball was heading into the net! Queue fun and games with the ref awarded a police escorts off the pitch.

Slightly off topic but did anyone else think how brilliant our green and white looked against their tangerine and black over the two games? Absolutely love our kit

Indeed. I remember a 3-3 draw at Tannadice in the mid-80s and we celebrated as if we’d won the cup. Came from 3-1 down but that was at a time when we regularly suffered against a brilliant McLean team.

Yes, our poor 80’s and 90’s affected a lot of stats against Hertz, Utd, Sheep who were doing well then.

One of these games was Toronto city v Dallas Tornadoes 😁
