As we head to Motherwell this weekend - any favourite memories from matches against them down the years ...

I’ll start with the “Konte” match..secured European football for us ...ahem “Legend”...

6-1 and Konte games aside I remember the 2-0 (or maybe 2-1) win way back at the start of Mowbray time. It was his second game in charge I think and we’d just lost at home to Killie.

GO’C scored both I think and Brown in goals made a couple of cracking saves.

Posted similar before in the past, early 80's, travelled independently, had a few drinks, half dozen of us got in the ground about 2.30 which was early for us and there were probably less than a hundred hibbies.

PC plod rolled up, spaced out a wee bit on the steps then proceeded to walk through talking to and nabbing a few fans.

One of our group got lifted and ejected for nothing, he complained to a copper in the unit outside and was told he could go back in but he'd have to pay again!!

He did, irony is one of our guys was a Lothian and Borders cop but they really weren't interested in what he had to say. Policing 80's style. Has it changed much?

Think it was a 2-2 pettigrew scored. He usually did!

A midweek match there in the 1970's and Hibs fans were going to the toilets at half time. The police lifted a guy for urinating on the outside wall of the toilets, which had no roof and it was drier outside even though it was chucking it down.

More recently, McGinn holding off about 3 of their players to let the ball run out for a bye kick - amazing show of strength.

That season we drew 6-6 with motherwell was the start of 4 years of decline. We done well that season up until about february when we went to ibrox and lost 3-0. Played well 1st half. Zemmama gave them a roasting then that fat cretin boyd elbowed him and we fell out the game and our form took a massive nose dive after that.

The first half in the 6-1 game was about as flawless as Hibs have been in recent times.

The 4-0 Friday night game was good fun too.

I'd also wager that Konte's equaliser was about the biggest away support outside a trip to Livi that a non-Old Firm team has had since all seater stadiums came in?

Remember big Deek scoring a couple in a 2-0 win (I think) that free kick as a bit of a cracket if I remember.

Someone else mentioned Leighton getting sent off - can remember Andy Millen going in goals and doing quite well (no pun intended) in a 1-1 draw - his hand going up time and time again to punch crosses away

Yep, I remember it was a .net bus organised for that match.

They scored in the opening 5 mins but the ball was judged not to have crossed the line even though replays showed it had. Higdon missed a penalty for them and Griffiths tucked away 2. I remember for one of them, he actually told Darren Randolph which corner of the net he was going to slot it into! 😁

I could have chosen just about all the above and if had to pick one it would have been my first game at fir Park aged 13, in the 2-2 SC QF when Arthur Duncan scored in the last minute to make it 2-2. I remember being in the shed opposite the main stand where it was absolutely packed with Hibs fans that day.

However there is one game that stands out and it's the only time that i've sat in the main stand at Fir Park and that was January 1990 in a midweek game. I think we won 2-0 but what sticks more in my memory is that Stevie Archiebald seemingly got a taxi back to Edinburgh before the game started after Alex Miller decided not to select him.

Another Fir Park memory, more unique than memorable. It was the first time for a lot of us that watched Hibs this particular day, as it wasn't against Motherwell but a 1-0 win over Gretna with Fletcher getting the goal.

No sure in the context of the thread, if that counts though.:greengrin

That was the night we won 4-0.

That was over 7 years ago believe it or not!

Remember it now after actually reading the thread haha. Great night.

I was trying to remember why I’d been in the stand that ran the length of the pitch opposite the main stand - it must have been against Gretna.

The Konte game I watched from the main stand.

I remember one time not long after the stand went up behind the goal I was through with one of my schoolmates. He’d tried the handle on the door to one of the suites, it opened, so we went in. It wasn’t being used but there were a few biscuits lying on a plate in there, so we made ourselves comfortable and enjoyed a hospitality box to ourselves.
