Just saw on the BBC that Russia’s government has resigned after Putin tries to push through changes that could see his term extended.

Proper bonkers stuff.

It won't stop with those two. There are leaders throughout the world who are watching and learning from those two.

I'm maybe interpreting your post incorrectly, but my understanding is that the Government has essentially resigned to allow him to push through these changes, not because they're opposed to them.

We have issues with democracy closer to home to worry about now.

At the moment the power lies with the President, our pal Vlad. Currently he can't serve another term after 2024 so he's proposing changes that would shift power from the President to the Prime Minister.

At the 2024 elections, Putin automatically stands down as President but pops back up as Prime Minister, which would be allowed, and with all the power retained by him.
A newly elected president would just be a figure head and nothing more.

Jesus, that wasn’t my understanding but if it is the situation is even worse than I realised!
