this is poor im through on the phone and have agreed to pay £20- for the st tickets and for th enon st holders £22 - fair enough, but now am on hold as i have questioned why the non st holders need to have client reference nbo's..

really poor stuff - and charged too while i wait (now 25 minutes!)

The Baldmans Comb
06-01-2020, 12:28 PM
If you phone on the 0844 number then as well as getting charged at 7p a minute a recorded message tells you tickets v Hearts are sold out for the 26th December.

Wait a bit longer and you get through to someone who has no idea what going on and hadn't heard of the game in question but was willing to sell you Hibs v Hamilton instead

Its just one issue after another for 18 months now.

I got 1 and nor am I but the website does say "Away season tickets holders" so maybe they have allocated the 400 or so that would have been available.

Either way this club feels way out of its depth on the very basics.

Alan62

Ticket purchased. However, if anyone from the club's marketing team is reading this thread (and you should be), that service was just not good enough. Failing to get them online at the appointed time is not acceptable. The various individual failures noted above, again, not acceptable.

And then there are the niggly little things like the ticket selection in the interface. Why would you split the various categories of season ticket holder rather than just listing them one after the other? And why would you put 'STH' instead of just spelling it out - 'season ticket holder'?

As for having a charge for ALL types of ticket delivery, that's poor. I realise this is unintended consequences of trying to push people to mobile and print at home ticketing but charging £1.50 for me to go to Easter Road to collect my ticket is a bit cheeky.

Rant over. It shouldn't be this difficult to buy tickets from a business that relies on ticket sales for income - bearing in mind that that cup gate receipts are shared between the clubs.

Tannadice holds well over 14,000. This means we were entitled to nearly 3000 briefs for the game. If we only got 1,500 then someone should be asking the question of why, and when will we be receiving our additional allocation. Twitter account more interested in posting pictures of our team going to Spain than advising what is going on.

Mentioned this previously but when announcing dates/times of sales, the club should be advising exactly how many tickets everyone is fighting over once AST and players briefs have been deducted so folk know where they stand.

If it's sold out Hibs should be communicating that. If there are technical issues Hibs should be communicating it. Frankly I don't give a toss about a Bury fan coming to watch us this season, as nice as it is that he has chosen us as his Scottish team, I care about our fans getting tickets for a Scottish Cup game, that should be the priority for communication.

Exactly. Both clubs have had weeks to come up with a plan regards tickets. Meaning Hibs could’ve easily said ‘if we sell x amount by this date we will be given x amount more tickets’, if there was a doubt that we would have enough tickets then absolutely no way should non-season ticket holders be able to purchase tickets at the same time.

Absolutely agree, as per usual Hibs communication and willingness to assist fans is abysmal at best, all about taking the money and nothing else.

Also, the difficulty in trying to attend a Hibs game now is frankly farcical, and somebody needs their arse kicked with regards this repeated shambles.

As usual though it will be complete silence on the matter. Still awaiting someone from Hibs responding on the Livingston shambles too!

Hibs had 1,400 tickets of which 400 would be allocated to away season tickets holders therefore 1,000 tickets remained.

Armed with this information two things then occurred.

Firstly Hibs thought they might struggle to sell out hence they didn't bother to ask for their additional entitlement and secondly they felt that each purchaser unbelievably should be entitled to buy up to 6 tickets each.

I feel very sorry for anyone who missed out and you might be OK when the second tranche is released but people in charge of ticket allocation at Hibs are totally out of touch and out of their depth.....yet again.

The match is live on the BBC and in January, a difficult month for many in terms of ready cash. I think the club could maybe be forgiven for being cautious.

Not even just that, season ticket holders could get as many as they wanted, only 6 per transaction (for everyone), so if they wanted to by 30 they just bought them in 5 batches.

Besides that, those will now be able to try and buy even more when they go back on sale when we receive our second allocation.

It’s genuinely bewildering.

There is being cautious, and then there is being utterly daft. Cautious would be advising supporters before hand that we have 1400 tickets, plus 1500 more if we need them, but they will be limited to one per ST holder and 6 per transaction until Friday.

If this is sold out we will then have our second allocation triggered. Simple and effective and everyone knows where they stand.

I mentioned earlier that I bought 4 but had to reallocate the other 3 to ST holders within my group. It wouldn't let me buy 4 under my client ref or reallocate to non-ST holders within my group. Don't know if anyone bought more than 1 without having to reallocate. So the info on the website was guff.

And made worse by having to pay a fee on top of it.

Surely it's up to Livingston to respond on that one?

Well Livi state they printed off a load of tickets and sent them to Hibs, Hibs thus far have not responded to this so as far as I am concerned on this one Hibs NEED to clear it up one way or another.

Hibs do have a duty of care to us when attending away games too, even IF Livi are at it Hibs should have had people on the ground assisting/directing Livi as Hibs fans were being treated very poorly indeed.

Possibly, all depends on how they go about the selling of more tickets. All those who already bought tickets will be able to buy more, folk who took time off to try and get tickets may not be able to have that luxury again. We’ve known the draw for around a month now? Yet here we are 12 days before and folk have no idea whether they can or can’t get a ticket yet.

Fairly simple, full allocation should have been taken in a oner, put on sale, one per season ticket holder, given 3/4 days to buy, then put on general sale thereafter. The club made no mention of a second allocation, and allowed non season ticket holders the same priority as season ticket holders.

As far as I see it, everyone who wants a ticket will get one. If demand outstrips supply, then brilliant, but the timing of the release of tickets wouldn't have made any difference to that.

Agree with all of that. I had to get my bosses PA to log into my account and leave her my STs and my bank card as I was in a meeting when they went in sale. If demand outstrips supply and only season ticket holders had the chance to buy tickets (ie hearts, rangers, Celtic etc) then great. The fact non season ticket holders have tickets when season ticket holders want to go is wrong, plain and simple. The whole reason (wrongly in my view) loyalty points were scrapped was for this reason, yet the club have went back on that completely.

It's a pretty baffling mistake to make. I posted on another thread the size of our away supports for the last 6 seasons in the Scottish Cup. With that as a precedent there is no way an initial allocation of 1400 was ever going to be close to enough for what is a desirable game in a competition in which we always have a big travelling support.

I've got a ticket so it really makes no odds to me but I understand why others are pissed off. A delay in tickets going on sale, a complete lack of functionality when they finally did go on sale and then a daft miscalculation in demand when all the evidence was there to get it right.

That's the question I have.

If Hibs asked for 3000 tickets, but only sold 2500, what happens to the unsold 500?

It would seem wrong that Hibs, or any other club in a similar situation, should have to pay for the spare seats, particularly if the home club didn't sell out, but I'm pretty sure that has been the case in the past, at least on occasion.

Maybe Keiran Power could answer that for us, unless it's commercially sensitive.

Having to pay for unsold tickets might be built in to any agreement with the likes of Celtc or The Rangers, but surely not Dundee Utd.

The only reason you'd have such a clause would be because you were pretty certain the home fans would sell them out anyway. I can't imagine anybody thinking United are going to sell 12,800 tickets for this game (that's the total capacity minus the initial 1,400).

Pointing out that this is a short-sighted decision is not 'bad mouthing' the club... it's just questioning the decision making of the person that thought we'd hardly sell any tickets.

There are people bad-mouthing the club or at least the people involved in this process.

If Hibs insisted on 20% of the capacity from the outset but ended up only needing one stand, then Utd. would rightly want paid for the empty stand (for which they otherwise could have sold tickets). They way it's being done they won't, even if Hibs don't sell out the second allocation.

Yeah we don’t have any behind the goals, just the ‘two’ stands that run the length of the pitch dugout side.

It just interested me that they are saying ‘a section’ of the shed... if hibs aren’t getting any then surely they have the possibility to sell the full stand to united fans, if the other two stands weren’t selling out you’d think they’d leave it empty with a chance to give it to hibs at the weekend dependant on sales..

I get that, but not sure why they wouldn’t just put the full stand up to buy tickets in, rather than ‘a section’ when i don’t think it can be segregated... although looking at their forums and twitter, their fans aren’t really too arsed about it and would rather just win the league ASAP.

FWIW uniteds ticket sales are atrocious, currently on general sale.

We currently have 3200 tickets and that’s more than the 20% of capacity they are obliged to give us. I reckon we won’t need or indeed get any more.

Think we’ll comfortably sell the additional allocation as well.

Yup. More tickets for Tanadice than we get at Tynecastle. Can't grumble

It's not entirely obvious that the support would be large. This time last year, the third round Scottish Cup tie pulled in just over 7,000 punters at Easter Road - which was never going to inspire confidence in a large away support for the same round in the same competition (notwithstanding the relatively low-calibre oppposition). And it wouldn't have been easy for Dundee United to gauge the relative levels of fan enthusiasm. Dundee United are kicking the arse out of the Championship this season whereas Hibs have been somewhat mediocre, so it might have been plausible that Hibs fans would be lukewarm for this tie while United fans would be keen to get tickets.

Setting a conservative initial allocation and then increasing as demand permits was a reasonable hedge. The shambles on the ticket sales date was less excusable.

They’ve taken the shed, so we won’t have more supporters than them

We'd never sell over 5000 tickets anyway Billy. Jerry Kerr and FairPlay stands giving us 3200 is more than enough for everyone who wants a ticket.

Has a date been set, if it goes to a money spinning replay?

Hibs been given an additional 1800 tickets so 3200 in total

I hope we sell them, or Dundee United will be demanding money for the unsold tickets.

Haha still don't know why he said that. Remember when he celebrated getting to penalties in the playoff final against St Mirren then failed to score any of them 😂 strange guy
