The West Ham fans must be a bit perturbed by this. They let Moyes go last time because the board said they wanted a manger who could take them to the next level. Now they return to square one, with another relegation battle. Little wonder their board are so unpopular.

I'd be amazed if it's a popular appointment with the WH fans, and he's always IMO been vastly overrated but if he keeps them away from relegation then he'll probably get another 6 months added to his contract ( i believe it's a 1.5 year contract). If they've got any pretensions towards, say, European qualification in the future, he's the wrong man for the job IMO.

If I was a West Ham fan, I would be looking at what has happened at Goodison and look at who Everton have appointed and have a WTF moment. For a club who are very much go forwards at the moment, this seems to be a go backwards step.

Everton are a bigger club, going to build a brilliant new stadium soon and have an owner with very deep pockets. Definitely think they are more attractive that west ham although you're right, they probably could've done better than Moyes. Marcelino, Emery, Kovac etc all would've been more interesting and exciting.

Stats show he has won about 38% of games in the EPL, so 62% not a winner then?

Moyes disappeared up his own backside after he got the Man Utd gig. A shame as I liked him at Everton and he came across very differently then. He's been blowing his own trumpet with every passing job and even spoke about taking on a club when an under pressure manager was still in situ. Lost any respect for him after that. He's yesterday's man and very few Hammers want him there, despite the fact in his own admission "he wins"

10 years being paid to play football and then 20 years as a manager in the top English league - I think he's a winner in the career game.

I liked him at Everton but ever since his stint at Man Unityed his ego has bugged me.

Given his record I'd expect some humility, but he has talked himself up as if he is on par with Alex Ferguson.

As mentioned previously the way he talked himself up for a job when a manager was still in place was unbelievable.

With his comments following his appointment he has set himself up to have egg on his face if it goes tits up.

Moyes Bad, Moyes Old, Moyes Dinosaur. Howe Good, Howe Young!?

Eddie Howe ALWAYS gets a free pass from the media and by dudes/dudettes who volunteer coach for their local U-12's.

And yet Moyes handed him a FOUR course dinner plus generous tip all for the low[!] price of admission.

OFF TOPIC MUSING - FEEL FREE TO MOVE TO GENERAL FOOTBALL:

AFC Bournemouth are sinking like a stone.

I like Howe but can someone more galaxy brained regarding football coaching than I please explain the media love in associated with Eddie Howe without resorting to the cliché of "young English coach" "injuries" etc.

I am guilty of not knowing enough about him and would like a greater insight from more knowledgeable dispassionate observers.

FWIW: I personally don't understand his appeal and think he is limited [c.f. Burnley - 2011-12]

I cant speak for the English press but for me personally he has done a remarkable and fantastic job ,in his first stint they started the season with a minus 17 points deduction, he made up the points to keep them in the football league and then took them to promotion the next season he then left for Burnley and it didnt work out for whatever reason? back to Bournemouth and 2 promotions in 3 yrs to take them in to the top flight for the first time in their history

Could Moyes or even Pep or Klopp take a club the size of Bournemouth up 3 divisions to the premier league and then keep them there for 5 seasons?

I wouldnt bet on it
