£18 Million EXTRA over 5 years and what have they got to show for it ? A disgrace of a stadium, an allotment for a pitch, and a team full of duds stuck at the foot of the table  And all that money is sunk, gone, deployed.

Surprised it’s taken the media so long to start asking questions, as apart from Michael Stewart, they’ve been given an easy time of it.
With all that has gone wrong, you’d be forgiven for thinking someone had placed a curse on the club - maybe they should think about putting a harp on the stand!
In all seriousness, this really comes down to incompetence and mismanagement that is off the scale and it’s about time questions were asked.

Can you imagine how far ahead of us they could have been if they'd spent that money properly?

The other thing to take from that article is McLean's assertion that a derby win would be "a massive lift" from them, as if it might trigger a revival of sorts.

This season, the massive lifts they've already had - Levein being sacked, players coming back from injury, an actual derby win, and a new manager - have lifted them to the heady heights of the foot of the table.

I expect Hearts to be up for the derby, but we shouldn't be worried about that - do you think they weren't up for the last three games under their new manager? Saturday's game was more important than the derby - the proverbial six pointer against Hamilton, and they choked. Do we think they've got more in their locker to bring out on Thursday?

If we turn up and play like we can, the derby should be a very enjoyable experience for us.

They'd no obligation or intention to repay anything in those days, nor a megastand to build so they're probably in the sort of position that the FOH/Budge/Levein dream combination is capable of achieving for all that money.

I'm not sure we're at the letter stage though. If we've learned anything from their drone like response leading to their administration it's that they'll probably get to the point where they'll consider forming a committee to recommend a draft wording of a possible letter.

How very dare you don't you know the Hearts model is the way forward for all football clubs in Scotland it has been said countless times on TV, Radio and in the press. It is held up as a magnificent model and the fans own the club don't you know.

I think the easy part of this model is taking your club to the point of bankruptcy, then refusing to pay your debt but getting let off scot free. I assume all UK clubs are currently working on this magnificent model.

Ann Budge really has made a ar$e of this!
We’re told she’s a very shroud businesswoman but the reality what she knows is IT. Without fans bailing her out they’d be bust yet again.

Add to that the pitiful attempt at completing the pink palace with its exceedingly small pitch and it’s press section which even has a “splash zone”.

But at least they did have a very nice concert at the start of the season to bugger up their pitch. All Hail Queen Ann 😂

Imagine however how these mystery benefactors feel. That was a wise investment. 😂😂. The money they’ve chucked in they could have bought the club themselves and surely made a better job if it than the Queen of Hearts has.

I can see it being a bit like the Horgan derby - we got a bit of a doing in the first half hour there, and Hearts starting games well as being one of two trends (other than losing) that's been apparent in his games do far. We equalised early enough not to let the game get away from us and they became shambolic fairly quickly.

It's pretty much up to Hibs - Hearts had a lot of chances against Hamilton and we always look like conceding, which is the main concern. If Hibs have enough about them though then there's no reason we don't see the same Hearts that have won twice in 26. Play well, deal with any early pressure and we'll get the same fun out of them that everyone else has.

Maybe.

A remarkably hard-hitting piece from Barry.

I know from speaking with a mate who used to work at the Evening News that Hearts under Levein (and Jefferies) could be very prickly to deal with and would all but cut off contact with the paper if they didn't like what was being written, so perhaps the shackles have been loosened and Barry's been able to say what he actually thinks for once!

Hearts: Benefactors donating nearly £9m, fans contributing more than £9m, wages of £8m-plus, so why are Jambos bottom at Christmas?
Defeat at Hamilton dampens any festive spirit at Tynecastle
By Barry Anderson

Christmas is already ruined at Tynecastle. Hearts sit three points adrift at the foot of the Premiership and are statistically the worst team in the top flight. Striker Steven MacLean wished everyone in the media room a happy festive period as he left Hamilton's Fountain of Youth Stadium on Saturday evening, but it felt almost insulting to return the pleasantries. There is simply no such thing as a Merry Christmas in Gorgie this year.

Hearts travelled to South Lanarkshire at the weekend and lost 2-1 to Hamilton Academical in a proverbial relegation six-pointer. The same Hamilton Academical who failed to win any of their previous 11 matches. They certainly needed this victory. Both teams sat joint-bottom on 12 points at kick-off and the result leaves the Edinburgh club detached on their own.

Despite millions of pounds in investment, fans contributing more than £9million in five years alone, mysterious benefactors chucking in a similar amount since 2016/17, and a wage bill exceeding £8m, Hearts are bottom of Scotland's top division. One may ask how this happened, although Saturday was a fair indication. Hearts began very brightly in their third match under new manager Daniel Stendel and should have been 1-0 ahead, possibly even 2-0, at the interval. They petered out all too quickly, not helped by Steven Naismith's enforced half-time withdrawal, and ended up surrendering rather meekly. In short, they lacked enough character - a familiar story for those who have watched them throughout 2019.

They have won only two of their last 26 league matches, losing to relegation rivals Hamilton and St Johnstone in two of their last three. The picture is bleak and the realisation of what he has inherited has dawned on Stendel. He admitted needing new players in January but those in situ must surely show some resolve. They face Hibs on Boxing Day and Aberdeen three days later - both opportunities for a much-needed fightback.

"It doesn't get any easier," admitted the Hearts defender Craig Halkett. "I don't know what else to say. The boys are hurting and it's not a nice place to be. Only we can change it. Everyone knows it's not good enough but things aren't going our way and it's going to be a hard one to try and get out of.

"Over the last three fixtures against St Johnstone, Celtic and Hamilton, you would have been looking to pick up six of those nine points. These teams [Saints and Accies] have been used to being where we are at the moment so that's a massive advantage they have over us. It's something we will need to deal with and dig deep."

Right now, it is doubtful whether the squad put together by Craig Levein, Stendel's predecessor, has the required spirit to survive. "We know how hard the situation is," said Halkett. "We are all close and we are fighting for each other. I know it doesn't look like that on the park but I can assure you we are. We need to learn as quickly as possible. You don't get a bigger game for Hearts than an Edinburgh derby on Boxing Day, so that's a great one to bounce back from. It would be a massive lift. Everyone needs to go away, look at themselves and really figure out what is going wrong here."

Ironically, Hearts started encouragingly at Hamilton. With Naismith at the apex of a diamond-shaped midfield, they controlled possession in the first half and created several good scoring chances. Naismith's cushioned volley ought to have found the net from Steven MacLean's knockdown and Halkett's header struck the crossbar. Once Naismith was withdrawn with a possible back-related injury at the break, Hearts' momentum dissipated. Hamilton recovered and gradually carved out the victory they craved. They went 2-0 ahead through Mickel Miller and Will Collar before Oliver Bozanic's header halved the deficit.

"We were really good for the majority of the first half," said Halkett. We created chances but they aren't going in. We have to start the next game they way we did on Saturday and just hope one of the chances will go in. We haven't been keeping clean sheets and that puts more pressure on the strikers to score. It's all come together to become one big mess but we are all confident we know what we need to do."

Ach, even if they win on Thursday (and I do think it's unlikely, they're not in a false position in the league, they are actually dugsh**e) it doesn't change anything.

It'll give them some consolation for their relegation battle but ultimately we've seen already that even a derby win at Easter Road failed to be a catalyst for an upturn in their fortunes.

They *might* win the battle, we'll win the war.

This, with the added caveat that we beat them at football, not wrestling. They will want to drag the game down to their level of hoofing and kicking our players and we don't have a Bartley or Milligan this year. Keep the heid and pass the ball. Keep up the good work Hibs.net. If the Scottish media won’t do their job properly the least we can do is to keep highlighting the massive amounts of fans cash wasted by the management team at HMFC. I do think Banderson’s numbers are underestimated though. Extra millions to add to the total are FoH’s boast of £10m contributed not £9m, some sucker has put in £2m+ in the form of STC sponsorship and Budge has put in £4m herself. That takes the total to £25m. There’s also the season ticket money shortfall for season 2019/2020 that will need to be covered but I guess the reporting of that can wait until next years accounts are published. Merry Christmas.
